Role Description
Windows Server Administrator
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Windows Administrator to support and maintain enterprise server infrastructure across production environments. The role focuses on Windows Server administration, virtualization, automation, patching, security, and operational support within a highly available IT environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Windows infrastructure technologies, VMware virtualization, SCCM, PowerShell automation, and Active Directory administration, combined with a proactive production support mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Windows Server Administration
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Windows Server environments
- Ensure high availability, stability, and optimal server performance
- Support server lifecycle activities including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning
Virtualization & Infrastructure
- Manage and support VMware virtualized environments
- Monitor virtual infrastructure health, capacity, and performance
- Perform VM provisioning, cloning, and resource optimization
Patch & Change Management
- Execute monthly OS patching cycles during approved maintenance windows
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance activities including:
- Firmware updates
- Hardware replacements
- Software deployments
- Ensure compliance with change management and operational procedures
Automation & Scripting
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell
- Automate routine administrative and operational tasks
- Improve operational efficiency through scripting and process optimization
Active Directory & Identity Management
- Administer Active Directory services, including:
- User and group management
- Group Policy (GPO) administration
- DNS and DHCP management
- Maintain secure identity and access controls across environments
Monitoring & Incident Management
- Monitor system health, logs, and infrastructure performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve:
- Server crashes
- Connectivity issues
- Service outages
- Performance bottlenecks
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis activities
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain infrastructure security standards
- Ensure systems are updated with the latest security patches
- Support audit, compliance, and vulnerability remediation activities
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides
- Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience administering Windows Server environments
- Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies
- Experience with SCCM for centralized server management and patching
- Strong scripting and automation capability using PowerShell
- Good understanding of:
- Active Directory
- Group Policy (GPO)
- DNS / DHCP
- Experience performing server patching and maintenance activities
- Strong troubleshooting and production support skills
- Familiarity with security hardening, patch compliance, and system monitoring tools
- Experience working in enterprise or production IT environments
