Job Profile: Building Maintenance Civil Technician
Job Summary
The Building Maintenance Civil Technician is responsible for carrying out day-to-day civil maintenance works to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of buildings. The role involves executing repairs, supporting preventive maintenance activities, and assisting engineers in maintaining civil infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and breakdown civil maintenance works, including:
- Minor masonry, plastering, and concrete repair works
- Painting, polishing, and surface finishing works
- Tile, granite, marble, and flooring repairs
- Waterproofing touch-ups and seepage rectification
- False ceiling and partition repairs
- Conduct regular inspections and report defects such as cracks, seepage, damaged finishes, and structural wear.
- Assist civil engineers in executing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safety practices at work sites.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and support skilled labor during maintenance works.
- Maintain basic records of work completed and materials used.
- Attend emergency civil repair calls and respond promptly.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent trade certification.
- Relevant training in building repair or finishing works is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in civil maintenance works for buildings such as apartments, offices, IT parks, malls, or factories.
Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on knowledge of civil maintenance activities.
- Ability to identify common building defects and suggest basic remedies.
- Basic understanding of safety practices and use of tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Physical fitness to perform on-site maintenance tasks.
- Good teamwork and coordination skills.
