Job Description
All about the role:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Developer to join our backend engineering team in Bangalore.
This is a hands-on development role with technical leadership responsibilities. You will work on a modern, high-volume payments platform supporting sales of sustainable consumer products in Europe and North America. The role is ideal for someone with strong backend engineering experience, solid payments domain knowledge and a desire to take ownership of business-critical systems in production.
What You’ll Do
- Lead development of payment-related backend services.
- Work hands-on with Kotlin, Ktor, asynchronous/reactive programming, MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Work with Adyen integrations, including APIs, webhooks, stored payment methods and payment lifecycle events.
- Work with a wide range of services to support payments such as integrated POS devices & subscription services.
- Help ensure payment services are reliable, scalable, observable and maintainable.
- Guide and mentor other developers through design discussions, code reviews and technical decision-making.
Who Are you:
- Around 10 years of software development experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in payments, ecommerce, fintech or transaction-heavy backend systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin.
- Experience with Ktor, Kotlin coroutines, Project Reactor, Spring WebFlux or similar asynchronous/reactive technologies.
- Previous experience integrating with Adyen or similar payment providers.
- Strong experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Experience building and supporting production backend systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to guide other developers.
Desirable:
- Experience with Adyen POS / terminal integrations.
- Experience with omnichannel or subscription payment flows.
- Experience with Kafka or event-driven systems.
- Experience with Kubernetes or cloud-native environments.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch or similar.
- Experience with PCI-aware development, fraud handling, chargebacks or payment security.
