PerigonAI | Full-time | India (remote, with occasional travel)
PerigonAI is a location intelligence platform for retail brands, real estate developers, and governments, working with some of the largest operators in the Gulf and across 20+ countries. We focus on transforming complex behavioral, demographic, and real-world signals into clear insights on market dynamics. The organization builds AI-driven solutions that help decision-makers anticipate market movements and understand risks before committing capital. Senior strategists and engineers collaborate to deliver tools that integrate directly into client workflows and remain embedded with their teams. PerigonAI operates in high-stakes environments where data-driven decisions have immediate, tangible consequences, offering opportunities to work on impactful, real-world problems.
Role Description The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced data science and machine learning models that turn large-scale behavioural, demographic, and physical-world data into actionable market insights. The role includes leading end-to-end analytics projects, from data exploration and feature engineering to model selection, validation, and performance monitoring. The individual will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and strategy teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and to embed models into production systems. Responsibilities also include mentoring data scientists and analysts, establishing best practices in experimentation and model governance, and presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
What you'll do
- Own the development, validation, and continuous improvement of client and platform deliverables across markets
- Build features and datasets from geospatial and behavioral data: mobility, POI, demographics, and spend
- Lead and mentor data science team across multiple geographics regions.
- Set the bar for rigor, especially model validation when data is limited or noisy
- Work with engineering to productionize models, and with client-facing teams to translate results into business terms
What we're looking for
- 7+ years in data science, with at least 1–2 years leading or mentoring others
- Strong Python and SQL; solid grounding in statistical and machine learning methods for real-world problems
- Depth in at least one of our core areas (forecasting, geospatial analysis, computer vision, or simulation) and willingness to lead across the rest.
- Experience with accelerating development and maintaining quality with Code gen tools like Claude Code/Codex, etc.
- Experience shipping models to production, not just prototyping
- Clear communicator, able to defend a model or insight to a skeptical executive.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: small datasets, imperfect ground truth, fast-moving priorities
Nice to have
- Geospatial tooling: GeoPandas, PostGIS, H3, Apache Spark, Data Lake
- Retail, QSR, Urban planning, or location analytics background
- Familiarity with MENA/APAC markets
