Role Overview
We are seeking a data-driven professional to develop and implement price optimization strategies that balance revenue growth, margin improvement, and competitive positioning. The role will focus on analyzing pricing data, modeling demand response, and building optimization frameworks that recommend optimal prices across products, categories, and channels.
The candidate will leverage advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to help the business make data-driven pricing decisions that improve profitability while maintaining strong customer value perception.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop analytical frameworks to determine optimal price points for products across categories.
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing strategies through data-driven insights.
- Build an Integrated Pricing model to automatically recommend best product prices (for regular and promo items) using optimization algorithms, accounting for price elasticity and impact on demand to drive the best bottom-line performance -
- A developed and productionized pricing optimization model.
- A detailed report on pricing optimization model validation and testing results, including accuracy metrics and performance evaluations.
- Analyze historical transaction data to estimate price elasticity and demand response.
- Identify how price changes impact sales volume, revenue, and margins.
- Assess different pricing scenarios including price increases, discount strategies, and competitive pricing moves.
- Provide recommendations based on revenue and profitability impact analysis.
Data Analysis & Modeling
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on large retail datasets including transactions, pricing history, and promotions.
- Develop scalable data pipelines using Python and PySpark.
- Engineer features related to product demand, price sensitivity, and competitive positioning.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with merchandising, category management, pricing, and marketing teams to align pricing strategies with business objectives.
- Communicate analytical insights and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders.
- Support decision-making on base pricing, promotional pricing, and markdown strategies.
Automation & Deployment
- Build scalable systems to generate pricing recommendations across large SKU catalogs.
- Automate workflows for price monitoring, model updates, and performance tracking.
- Support integration of analytics outputs into pricing and merchandising systems.
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience with PySpark or large-scale data processing frameworks
- Experience with EDA, statistical modeling, and data visualization
- Familiarity with price elasticity modeling, demand forecasting, or optimization techniques
Analytical Skills
- Strong understanding of pricing strategy and demand modeling
- Ability to analyze large transactional datasets and derive pricing insights
- Experience working with revenue and margin optimization problems
Business & Soft Skills
- Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate pricing challenges into analytical solutions
