Role & Responsibilities:
Drive Data Modeling and Transformation Strategy
- Establish enterprise data modeling standards and oversee the implementation of robust ETL/ELT frameworks. Ensure consistency, reusability, and alignment with domain-driven and layered architecture principles (Bronze/Silver/Gold or equivalent)
Lead Data Governance, Quality, and Compliance
- Own data quality frameworks, governance controls, metadata management, and regulatory compliance. Define validation standards, monitoring SLAs, and observability practices across the data ecosystem.
Engage with Clients and Senior Stakeholders
- Act as the technical authority in stakeholder discussions. Translate business objectives into scalable platform solutions, provide architectural recommendations, and influence roadmap decisions across cross-functional teams.
Establish Engineering Standards and Technical Direction
- Define and enforce engineering best practices including CI/CD for data, testing frameworks, documentation standards, DevOps integration, and secure coding practices. Mentor senior engineers and guide code/design reviews.
Lead and Mentor Data Engineering Teams
- Provide technical leadership, conduct architecture reviews, support capability development, and build a high-performance engineering culture across projects.
Drive Technology Strategy and Innovation
- Evaluate emerging tools, cloud-native services, and modern data architectures. Make strategic decisions on platform evolution aligned with enterprise scalability and long-term business objectives.
Advanced Data Modeling & Warehousing Strategy
- Define enterprise data modeling standards (dimensional, Data Vault, lakehouse medallion patterns).
- Lead logical and physical data architecture design across modern platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, and BigQuery.
- Optimize storage formats, partitioning strategies, indexing, and performance tuning at platform scale.
Programming & Engineering Excellence
- Advanced proficiency in Python or Scala with emphasis on scalable system design and reusable engineering frameworks.
- Establish coding standards, review complex implementations, and mentor engineers on performance optimization and reliability patterns.
Data Governance, Lineage & Observability
- Design and enforce enterprise data governance frameworks including lineage, cataloging, metadata management, and access control models.
- Experience implementing tools such as Apache Atlas, Collibra, or Alation at scale.
- Define data quality SLAs, monitoring frameworks, and observability standards.
DevOps, CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code
- Architect CI/CD pipelines for data platforms incorporating Git-based workflows, Docker, Terraform, and automated testing.
- Establish deployment strategies, branching models, and environment promotion controls.
- Integrate DevOps practices into data engineering to enable reliable and auditable releases.
Stakeholder Influence & Technical Leadership
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable architectural blueprints.
- Lead cross-functional discussions with architects, security teams, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
- Mentor teams, conduct architecture reviews, and drive engineering maturity across engagements.
