Role: Lead Consultant
Practice/Technology: Financial Crime & Compliance (AML, Fraud) – Product Owner/Business Analyst
Location: India (Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad)
About the Role
At Infosys, your career will never stand still, will inspire you to build what’s next, and navigate further together. As a Lead Consultant in our Financial Crime & Compliance practice, you will shape value-adding consulting solutions that help our clients meet evolving regulatory expectations while harnessing advanced AI (including GenAI and agentic automation).
As an individual, you will contribute across the consulting lifecycle - defining problems, designing solutions, and guiding delivery. You will lead discovery and design for AML/Fraud capabilities, modernize controls with data and AI, and mentor teams on best practices, quality, and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead current-state assessment of AML and Fraud controls across Transaction Monitoring, Customer Due Diligence (CDD/KYC), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Sanctions/Name Screening, Payments Screening, and Case Management.
- Translate regulatory obligations (FATF, Basel, RBI, OFAC, EU, MAS, FCA, FFIEC) into business and functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Document user stories, process flows, data flows, and use cases; maintain backlogs and traceability from requirements through testing and model validation.
- Evaluate detection coverage, scenario design, thresholds, suppression logic, and tuning opportunities to reduce false positives while maintaining risk sensitivity.
- Partner with Data Science to design, interpret, and validate ML models (e.g., anomaly detection, network/graph analytics, risk scoring, entity resolution, alert triage, and false-positive reduction).
- Drive the transition from rules-only alerting to hybrid rules + ML/AI frameworks with clear governance, explain ability, and model risk management (MRM).
- Define and validate model features from risk typologies (e.g., mule activity, TBML, sanctions evasion, fraud rings, first-party/third-party fraud) and create test/benchmark datasets.
- Embed Explainable AI (XAI) and fairness testing; ensure outputs are interpretable and auditable for Compliance, Internal Audit, and Regulators.
- Design agentic AI use cases (e.g., Perpetual KYC, adverse media summarization, alert/case prioritization, False positive reduction and remediation workflows) with robust guardrails and human-in-the-loop.
- Work with Engineering to implement scalable data pipelines, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures; integrate with core banking, payments, KYC/CDD functions, and monitoring platforms.
- Define data models and mapping between source and target systems; collaborate on entity resolution and customer 360 initiatives.
- Create process models, specifications, sequence diagrams, and UI mockups to guide delivery teams.
- Plan and support SIT/UAT; define test strategies including negative testing, back testing, challenger models, and performance monitoring.
- Contribute to proposals/RFPs, estimations, and accelerators; conduct client training and internal capability building.
- Champion secure-by-design principles, data privacy, and responsible AI practices; align with model governance, data retention, and access controls.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years as a Business Analyst/Product Owner/Consultant in Financial Services with direct experience in AML, Fraud, and broader Financial Crime & Compliance.
- Hands-on experience delivering Transaction Monitoring, Screening, KYC/CDD/EDD, Case Management, or Fraud detection solutions (vendor platforms or custom builds).
- Strong data skills: SQL, profiling, lineage, data quality assessment; comfortable working with large, complex financial datasets (payments, customer, trade, cards).
- Proven experience collaborating with Compliance, Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams; excellent documentation and stakeholder management.
- Working knowledge of Agile (Scrum/Kanban), backlog management, and story writing with clear acceptance criteria.
- Experience applying AI/ML to FCC use cases (e.g., segmentation, entity resolution, anomaly detection, NLP for adverse media, LLM-assisted investigations).
- Understanding of cloud-based solutions and data platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), APIs, and CI/CD.
- Ability to operate under regulatory/audit timelines with meticulous attention to quality and evidence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to leading FCC and fraud platforms (e.g., Actimize, NetReveal, Mantas/Oracle FCCM, FIS/Saas providers, SAS, Feedzai, Featurespace, ComplyAdvantage, Quantexa, etc.).
- Practical knowledge of model risk management (SR 11-7 or equivalent), challenger/benchmark models, back testing, and performance monitoring.
- Experience with graph technologies and network analytics for complex entity and relationship detection.
- Hands-on with GenAI/LLMs (prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, grounding, red-teaming, and safety) for FCC workflows.
- Understanding of agentic AI patterns (tool use, planning, guardrails, human-in-the-loop) for solutions and operations automation.
- Working knowledge of RPA and orchestration (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate) integrated with ML services.
- Familiarity with Responsible AI, data privacy, and security-by-design standards applicable to financial institutions.
Personal Attributes
- High analytical and problem-solving skills; structured thinking with strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter with initiative and flexibility; comfortable leading ambiguous problem spaces.
- Strong customer orientation and consulting presence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with crisp storytelling and visualization.
