Position Title: Lead, Career Counselling & Training

Profile Summary:
The Lead, Career Counselling & Training plays a pivotal role in equipping students of BITS Law School, Mumbai, with the skills, resources, and exposure required to succeed in competitive legal careers. The incumbent will serve as the primary career counsellor and curriculum architect for students. Designing and delivering structured learning programmes, providing personalized career advisory, and building the institutional frameworks that shape every students professional trajectory. The role combines the depth of individual career guidance with the breadth of programme ownership: from formulating training modules and facilitating workshops to driving industry R&D and leading departmental operations. The incumbent will position the department as a centre of career excellence within the school, and their work will be directly visible in the quality, confidence, and placement outcomes of graduating students.

Key Responsibility:
1. Career Curriculum Design & Programme Development:
- Design and own the career development curriculum - formulate structured modules spanning foundational skills, soft skills, and legal-industry competencies. Facilitate Workshops and Seminars on job search strategy, professional networking, personal branding, and interview craft
- Integrate industry practitioners, BITS alumni, and subject-matter experts into module delivery through purposeful collaboration. Conduct specialized sessions on niche practice areas, alternative legal careers, and postgraduate study pathways
2. Outreach & Engagement Strategy:
- Lead the student outreach strategy- design, standardize, and annually review institutional career resources, including Guides, CV Frameworks, and Comprehensive Career Toolkits
- Devise the content strategy for the mid-semester, end-semester departmental reports and Annual Report, articulating the impact
- Design and produce high-impact Internship and Placement talent pool to top-tier legal employers
3. Student Counselling & Career Advisory:
- Provide personalised advisory on CV standardisation, Cover letters, Statements of Purpose (SOPs), personal statements, and all application documents, driving measurable improvement in student placement outcomes
- Spearhead ongoing R&D on legal industry trends, emerging practice areas, and evolving employer expectations; translate insights into actionable guidance for students and training content
- Establish a robust feedback and evaluation framework to continuously assess training effectiveness and drive iterative improvements to programme content and delivery
Experience:
- 3-5 years in career services, legal training, law school placement, or student development roles
Qualification:
- Essential: Graduate degree from a recognized university
- Preferred: or Post-Graduate Diploma in HR / Education Management / Training & Development
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Career counselling, advisory, and high-impact student mentoring
- Curriculum design, module formulation, and training delivery-independently and through expert collaboration
- Strong written communication and content creation skills
- Research aptitude-ability to track and synthesis industry trends
- Coordination and stakeholder management across students, faculty, alumni, and external partners
Prerequisite Knowledge:
- Familiarity with legal industry hiring practices, career pathways, and employer expectations across law firms, corporates, judiciary, and public interest sectors
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering structured training programmes for students or professionals
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with LMS tools, and digital content management systems
- Command over professional writing-CV standards, SOP frameworks, institutional reports, and career communications
