Role Overview:
We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and business-driven Lead - Buying & Merchandising to lead our end-to-end merchandise strategy across a growing retail network of 30+ stores. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing buying strategies, optimizing assortments, ensuring product availability, and driving sales and profitability through effective merchandise planning and vendor management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall buying and merchandising function, aligning product strategy with business objectives and consumer insights.
- Define and implement merchandise planning, category management, and assortment strategies to maximize sales and margins.
- Oversee demand forecasting, stock allocation, replenishment, and sell-through performance across all retail locations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brand partners and suppliers, negotiating optimal terms and ensuring timely deliveries.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to guide buying decisions.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Marketing, and Finance teams to drive in-store performance and profitability.
- Review and optimize inventory turns, markdown management, and product lifecycle planning.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Buying & Merchandising team to achieve functional excellence and business goals.
- Implement technology and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 4–8 years of progressive experience in buying, merchandising, or category management, preferably in retail or lifestyle brands.
- Proven track record in merchandise planning, vendor negotiation, and product lifecycle management.
- Should have led a team.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- MBA or equivalent qualification from a reputed institution preferred.
- Proficiency in inventory management and ERP systems.
