Job details:
Senior AI Engineer - R&D (5-8 years' experience), Interns/Freshers are not eligible, Btech Mandatory & Ph.D./M.Sc in Biomedical Engineering preferred
Education:
- B.Tech (Bio Medical preferred or Computer Science) mandatory
- Preferred M.Sc in Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physiology
About the Role
You will design, research, and define and improve the ways that power the Suhi.ai models. You will work closely with Data Scientists who develop the signal processing approaches and scientific methodologies your job is to take those approaches, find the differences across research papers, and finalize the best approach to move forward with.
What You Will Do
Signal Processing & Feature Engineering
- Research and develop signal processing approaches for extracting physiological signals from video rPPG, facial landmark tracking, skin tone normalisation
- Design feature engineering pipelines that capture meaningful biological signals from raw video frames
- Investigate and implement noise reduction techniques for motion artifacts, variable lighting, and diverse skin tones
- Develop pre-processing and post-processing methods that improve signal quality before and after model inference
Research & Experimentation
- Review and research on PPG, rPPG, and non-invasive health monitoring Approaches
- Propose and test new scientific approaches for health indicators particularly bloodless tests like HbA1c Risk, Blood Glucose Risk, and Cholesterol Risk
- Run statistical analysis on clinical datasets to validate that extracted signals correlate with ground truth clinical measurements
- Design and run controlled experiments to test hypotheses about signal extraction and feature importance
Collaboration with Data Scientist Engineers
- Document validated signal processing approaches in clear technical specifications for Data Scientist Engineers to implement
- Work side-by-side with Data Scientist Engineers during model training advising on feature selection, data augmentation, and evaluation strategy
- Diagnose whether accuracy issues are a data/signal problem or a model architecture problem
- Contribute to the benchmark suite defining what accuracy targets are scientifically achievable per health indicator.
Benchmarking & Validation
- Build and maintain the model benchmark suite defining pass/fail accuracy thresholds for each health indicator
- Evaluate model performance against clinical-grade reference devices (ECG, pulse oximeters, glucometers)
- Conduct bias analysis across skin tones, age groups, BMI ranges, and device types
- Document all experiments, results, and model versions in a reproducible research log
Clinical Validation Support
- Analyse clinical dataset results and produce statistical validation reports
- Conduct bias and fairness analysis across demographic groups age, gender, skin tone, BMI
- Support preparation of regulatory documentation with scientific evidence and accuracy data
What We Are Looking For
Must Have
- 2–3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist with strong statistical and analytical skills
- Direct experience with physiological signal processing - PPG, ECG, rPPG, or accelerometer data
- Strong Python skills - NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, scikit-learn
- Familiarity with computer vision - OpenCV, video processing pipelines
- Experience with time-series analysis or signal processing
- Solid foundation in statistics - hypothesis testing, regression, correlation, significance testing
- Experience designing and running controlled experiments on real datasets
- Ability to read and apply academic research papers to practical problems
- Clear written communication - able to document scientific findings for both technical and non-technical audiences Since it will make the foundation for IP related documentations.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with clinical or medical datasets
- MSc or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physiology
- Published research in digital health, wearables, or biosignal processing
