Role Summary
The FinTech AI / Data Engineer is a versatile and motivated engineer who builds and maintains AI-enabled data pipelines, backend services, and process automation within Lumen's Finance technology team. Based in India, this role works closely with senior engineers on system design and implementation while taking increasing ownership of deliverables. The FinTech Engineers will collaborate with stakeholders in India and North America, contributing to a fast-paced team that delivers intelligent solutions driving efficiency and decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate is technically curious, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to deepen their expertise in AI, cloud, and data engineering.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain AI-enabled data pipelines, backend services, and integration workflows.
- Implement agent workflows, tool integrations, and process automation solutions.
- Develop APIs and backend services that support AI-driven use cases and business processes.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers on system design, architecture decisions, and implementation.
- Support monitoring, debugging, and production support activities to ensure system reliability.
- Write clean, well-tested, and well-documented code following team standards.
- Participate actively in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and technical discussions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and team practices.
- Engage with cross-regional team members and stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
- Stay current with emerging AI, data engineering, and cloud technologies to bring new ideas to the team.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of professional software or data engineering experience.
- Solid proficiency in Python for building data pipelines, services, and automation.
- Solid proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and analysis.
- Working experience with cloud platforms, specifically Azure and/or AWS.
- Working experience with APIs and microservices architecture.
- Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and analytics workflows (especially within a Databricks platform)
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts, agent-based systems, and intelligent automation.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git).
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across time zones.
- Preferred skills
- Familiarity with vector search, embeddings, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns.Experience working with both structured and unstructured data at scale.
- Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar).
- Experience with Databricks or similar data and analytics platforms.
- Background in Finance, FinTech, or enterprise technology environments.
