Job Description – Lead Administrator – Webservices MQ (L1 | Band-B3)
Location: Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru

Role Summary
The Lead Administrator – Webservices MQ will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of enterprise messaging platforms, with a strong focus on IBM MQ infrastructure. This role involves L3 support, platform reliability, security, performance optimization, and lifecycle management across hybrid environments.
The candidate will collaborate with application, integration, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, resilient, and high-performing message flows.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L3 administration for IBM MQ (Queue Managers, channels, listeners, MQ objects, security, HA setups)
- Ensure high availability and reliability through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance
- Lead incident & problem management, including RCA and preventive actions
- Execute upgrades, patching, and migrations with minimal downtime
- Manage MQ security: TLS/mTLS, CHLAUTH, OAM, certificates, keystores
- Support cross-platform messaging systems (ActiveMQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ, TIBCO, Red Hat AMQ)
- Enable integration with APIs, ESB, and web services
- Automate operations via scripting (Shell/Python/PowerShell)
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and governance standards
- Collaborate on solution design and onboarding of applications
- Mentor L1/L2 teams and provide technical leadership
- Participate in on-call and critical incident support
Primary Skills (Must Have – IBM MQ)
- Strong experience in IBM MQ Administration (Linux/Unix/Windows)
- Expertise in:
- Queue Managers & MQSC scripting
- MQ Objects (Queues, Topics, Channels, AuthInfo)
- Clustering & HA/DR (Multi-instance QM, replication)
- Performance tuning:
- Queue depth, logs, buffers, channels
- Security:
- CHLAUTH, CONNAUTH, OAM
- SSL/TLS, certificates, cipher specs
- Troubleshooting:
- MQ logs, FDC files, connectivity issues
- Backup/Restore, DR drills, patching & upgrades
Secondary Skills (Good to Have)
- ActiveMQ / Artemis – broker administration
- Apache Kafka – topics, partitions, consumer lag, ACLs
- RabbitMQ – exchanges, bindings, clustering
- Red Hat AMQ – administration & HA
- TIBCO EMS – monitoring & basic support
Tools & Technologies
- OS: Linux/Unix (preferred), Windows
- Automation: Shell, Python, PowerShell, Ansible
- Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, AppDynamics
