Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Administrator 2 level position. Starting salary range: $100,718.00 - $126,993.00/annually, depending upon experience.

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for leading the Laramie County Community College Foundation (LCCCF) in providing services and assistance to students, faculty, staff, and the community, enhancing a sense of tradition and pride in the College. This position reports to the Laramie County Community College Foundation Board of Directors. The ED will focus on strategic fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement, ensuring sustainable financial support for the college and its programs as outlined by the Laramie County Community College (LCCC) priorities and the LCCCF Board of Directors. The ED shall administer and manage the operations of the Foundation, including its fundraising activities, the management of its assets, and overseeing the accounting and expenditures of the Foundation’s resources.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is exempt and is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).

Lead Fundraising Strategy and Campaign Execution
 Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with LCCC/LCCCF development priorities and goals, advancing resources for scholarships, programs, facilities, and long-term endowment growth. This is accomplished through:

  • Creating and executing annual and multi-year fundraising plans with measurable goals and timelines.
  • Leading targeted fundraising campaigns, including capital, annual, and special initiatives.
  • Establishing systems to monitor progress toward financial targets and adjusting strategies to ensure success.
  • Engaging staff, board, volunteers, and partners in campaign execution.
  • Leveraging corporate sponsorships, grants, and matching opportunities to diversify funding streams.
  • Overseeing the progress and completion of annual/bi-annual Development Priorities provided by the College and establishing mechanisms for reporting and information sharing.
Cultivate Major Gifts, Planned Giving, and Donor Relationships
 Build and sustain a robust pipeline of major donors and planned giving prospects to ensure long-term financial sustainability. This is accomplished through:
  • Identifying and stewarding relationships with major donors, alumni, corporations, and foundations.
  • Developing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies for high-capacity donors.
  • Personally serving as the major gifts officer for gifts of $100,000 or more.
  • Managing planned giving programs and promoting legacy giving opportunities overseeing the Legacy Society with a goal of continued growth.
  • Overseeing stewardship and recognition activities to ensure donor satisfaction and retention.
  • Hosting events and creating personalized communication to demonstrate donor impact.
Provide Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
 Ensure alignment between Foundation initiatives and College priorities through strategic planning and high-level collaboration. This is accomplished through:
  • Partnering with the College President and Cabinet to identify and prioritize fundraising needs.
  • Leading the development and execution of a Foundation strategic plan aligned with LCCC’s mission and vision.
  • Serving as the primary liaison for the Foundation between and the College President and Board of Trustees, attending President’s Cabinet business meetings and other institutional meetings as requested.
  • Collaborating with College leadership on program development and emerging opportunities.
  • Supporting new initiatives such as alumni networks, community partnerships, and scholarship expansion.
  • Establishing the strategic marketing direction of the Foundation in alignment with the College’s communication efforts and overseeing development of publications including newsletters, annual reports, and donor outreach materials.
Engage and Support the Foundation Board of Directors
 Build and maintain a high-functioning and mission-driven Foundation Board. This is accomplished through:
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for the Board of Directors.
  • Providing strategic guidance, orientation, and ongoing education to board members.
  • Facilitating effective governance through clear communication, agendas, and committee support.
  • Encouraging active board participation in fundraising, stewardship, and advocacy.
  • Providing timely financial and performance updates to inform board decision-making.
  • Cultivating relationships with board members to leverage their expertise and networks.
  • Leading strategic recruitment and onboarding of new board members to ensure diverse and effective representation.
Promote Alumni and Community Engagement
 Strengthen alumni and community relationships to enhance visibility, support, and long-term investment in the College. This is accomplished through:
  • Leading outreach initiatives that connect the Foundation with local businesses, civic leaders, and organizations.
  • Developing a robust alumni engagement program with events, volunteer opportunities, and giving campaigns.
  • Overseeing donor initiatives such as the Golden Eagle Booster Club.
  • Representing the Foundation on boards, community events, and in civic forums.
  • Promoting the College through public relations and marketing activities in collaboration with College communications staff.
Ensure Financial Stewardship and Ethical Compliance
 Maintain the financial health, transparency, and compliance of the Foundation. This is accomplished through:
  • Overseeing annual budgets, endowment investments, and financial operations.
  • Ensuring annual audits are completed with no significant findings.
  • Managing donor funds with fidelity to donor intent and Foundation policy.
  • Enhancing investment strategies to achieve a minimum average return of 5% annually.
  • Monitoring donor information and presenting statistical and narrative reports to Foundation and College leadership.
  • Upholding ethical fundraising practices in compliance with IRS, CASE, and NACUBO standards.
Lead Foundation Operations and Staff Development (Additional Responsibility)
 Provide day-to-day operational oversight and leadership to the Foundation team by:
  • Providing direct supervision for the Administrative Assistant and Director of Accounting and COO, and secondary supervision for the development team.
  • Setting strategic direction for the team and holding accountability for progress toward goals.
  • Fostering staff development, team cohesion, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact between the Foundation and the LCCC Executive Team and communicating appropriate information to staff.
  • Serving as an expert user and leader of Raiser’s Edge CRM to support development strategy, donor tracking, and analytics.
Other responsibilities may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.

Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and major gift cultivation
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and board management
  • Knowledge of investment strategies, endowment management, and nonprofit financial reporting
  • Familiarity with strategic planning and development priorities in higher education
  • Deep understanding of community and alumni engagement best practices
  • Knowledge of relevant compliance, ethical, and legal standards for fundraising and foundations

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in non-profit management, communications, business administration, or a directly related field is required. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional, proven experience in nonprofit operations, board management, fundraising, and donor relations, preferably in an educational or Laramie County setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team and stakeholder group.
  • Experience managing and leading individuals and cross-functional teams, including employee supervision and performance management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree (e.g., master’s degree) is preferred, especially a degree in a related field of study. All degrees must be from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working generally in an educational environment, preferably a community college or higher education institution.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or elected boards of directors.
  • Experience in developing and executing successful campaigns (e.g. fundraising campaigns) is desired.
