Injection Molding Process Technician – 2nd Shift

Position Details
Position: Injection Molding Process Technician
Department: Molding (MLD)
Shift: 2nd Shift
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Saturday as needed)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Scope of the Position
Molding Process Technicians are responsible for setting up, programming, and maintaining our 31 injection molding presses, ranging from 135 to 1430 tons, with barrel sizes from 8 to 185 oz.
Our facility utilizes 14 robots and sequential valve gating systems, requiring strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to ensure smooth production and minimal downtime.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring quality parts are produced efficiently while maintaining equipment performance and department productivity.
Responsibilities
- Accurately program injection molding machines and robots according to the production schedule
- Set up and maintain molding processes for optimal machine performance
- Ensure the molding department operates efficiently to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Monitor production to ensure high-quality parts are being produced
- Identify issues quickly and take corrective action as needed
- Clean vents and mold surfaces to improve part quality
- Document all process activities and adjustments as required
- Troubleshoot machine, mold, and process-related issues
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management
Education and Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar position within the plastics industry
- Previous injection molding process experience is required
- Experience working with large tonnage presses preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong background in injection molding processes
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, preferably within the plastics industry
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities
- Proficient reading, writing, and basic math skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
