Job Purpose:
To lead end-to-end land acquisition, land aggregation, government liaison, stakeholder engagement, and statutory approvals for Wind, Solar, Hybrid, and BESS projects across South India, with primary responsibility for Karnataka. The role is accountable for ensuring timely availability of encumbrance-free land to support project execution while maintaining strong relationships with landowners, government authorities, consultants, and local communities.
Job Context & Major Challenges:
The role operates in a dynamic renewable energy environment where project success depends on timely acquisition of large contiguous land parcels across multiple districts and villages.
Major challenges include:
Securing large land parcels under aggressive project timelines.
Managing negotiations with multiple landowners and aggregators.
Handling complex land records, title verification, and statutory approvals.
Liaising with Revenue, Forest, Registration, and local government authorities.
Resolving land disputes, Right of Way (RoW), and community-related issues.
Supporting transmission corridor acquisition and grid connectivity requirements.
Managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring governance and compliance.
The role requires a seasoned land acquisition professional with deep understanding of Karnataka land laws, strong government liaison capabilities, and proven leadership in renewable energy land acquisition.
Principal Accountabilities & Supporting Actions:
Land Acquisition Leadership
Lead end-to-end land acquisition, aggregation, leasing, and purchase activities for Wind, Solar, Hybrid, and BESS projects across South India, with primary focus on Karnataka.
Land Identification & Feasibility
Identify suitable land parcels based on resource availability, transmission connectivity, environmental considerations, and project feasibility.
Stakeholder & Community Management
Build long-term relationships with landowners, village leaders, local communities, and influencers to ensure smooth project execution.
Government Liaison & Regulatory Approvals
Liaise with Revenue Department, Forest Department, Registration Authorities, Panchayats, Deputy Commissioners, Tehsildars, Survey Departments, and other statutory bodies to obtain approvals and resolve issues.
Land Due Diligence & Documentation
Oversee title verification, legal due diligence, registration, mutation, land conversion, agreement execution, and maintenance of accurate documentation.
RoW & Dispute Resolution
Lead resolution of land disputes, compensation matters, Right of Way issues, and stakeholder grievances impacting project timelines.
Project Coordination
Work closely with Business Development, Engineering, Projects, Legal, Finance, Survey, and Environmental teams to ensure timely land handover.
Vendor & Consultant Management
Manage land aggregators, liaison consultants, survey agencies, legal partners, and external service providers to ensure efficient project execution.
Risk Management
Identify land acquisition risks, develop mitigation plans, and proactively escalate critical issues affecting project schedules.
MIS & Reporting
Track acquisition progress, land bank status, approvals, registrations, and project milestones through dashboards and management reports.

Qualifications:
- Full-time Graduation Mandatory
- MBA / PGDM or relevant specialization preferred
- 18–20 years of experience in Land Acquisition for Renewable Energy, Power, Infrastructure, Transmission, or Industrial projects.
- Proven experience in Wind, Solar, Hybrid, and BESS project land acquisition.
- Strong experience in Karnataka land acquisition is mandatory; exposure to other South Indian states (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala) will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise in government liaison, land aggregation, title due diligence, land registration, mutation, and RoW management.
Experience leading geographically dispersed field teams and managing large-scale renewable energy projects.
