About the role
Lambert Labs is looking for a summer intern to join its team during Summer 2025. As an intern, you will be acting as a trainee AWS Cloud Developer, adding value to Lambert Labs and our customers by consulting on cloud migrations and application modernization, and helping our customers adopt best practices with their cloud architecture. Our internship will run from around June 2025 to September 2025, with some flexibility.
Lambert Labs is an AWS Advanced Tier Services partner that helps customers across a wide range of industries migrate to AWS, modernize their existing AWS infrastructure and build new products/infrastructure on AWS. We recently won the AWS Partner Award for Sustainability in 2024.
The role
In this internship role you will get the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including, but not limited to:
Building innovative GenAI projects that solve real world projects and deliver value to customers.
Helping customers adopt a modern DevOps culture through advising on things like Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD).
Building data processing pipelines on AWS.
Migrating Linux and/or Windows workloads from either on-premises or other cloud providers to AWS.
Modernizing application infrastructure by decoupling monolithic applications running on a single server in favour of using containers and AWS managed services to host applications.
Writing Terraform or CloudFormation to template AWS infrastructure.
Writing clean, modern application code for our customers' workloads, primarily using Python for backend development.
You will be supported in your work by experienced engineers from our team, who will provide guidance and quality control / feedback. This is an internship, so we do not expect you to be able to do everything. However, some level of practical coding experience and theoretical understanding of some of the underlying concepts is desirable.
Because we are so deeply immersed in the AWS Partner Program there are also a number of tasks that are focused on this area. These include:
Understanding costs via the AWS cost calculator.
Building infrastructure diagrams to support funding applications
Writing customer case studies or technical articles for our website or other platforms.
As an intern, you will also be encouraged to study towards the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification, which will give you a strong grounding in AWS and broader cloud concepts, and you will be given guidance and time to study during your working hours.
During your internship you will be expected to work 4 days per week at our office in Earl's Court, and 1 day remote.
Lambert Labs will provide you with the opportunity to make a real difference on client projects from day 1, learn new skills at the cutting edge of cloud engineering, and enjoy a working culture in which we take pride in delivering great work while prioritising a good work-life balance.
Requirements
Some programming experience in any language; most of our back-end code is written in Python.
Some understanding of the basic components of a simple software architecture and what they do e.g. application layer, database layer.
A basic understanding of the concepts underlying cloud computing would be beneficial.
Some knowledge of cloud networking and security best practices would be an advantage.
Verbal and written communication skills.
The most important requirement is motivation and a willingness to learn.

Application process
Please apply with a CV and brief covering letter sent to careers@lambertlabs.com, or directly via this job posting. You should expect to be assessed with a coding exercise and some questions around technical architecture.
