About the role

LPSO takes pride in the operation of LPCC for the safety of the public as well as the safety of our deputies. In this career, you take first line responsibility for the care, custody, and control of offenders. Other duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: participate in secure and safe inmate movements and activities, serve meals, provide security for housing areas, interact professionally with offenders and the public, conduct headcounts, and other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Hours: 6 am to 6 pm or 6 pm to 6 am (rotating each month), Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (off all other days in a 2 week period).

Salary: Begins at $48,145.22 yearly plus benefits (not inclusive of state supplemental pay, if applicable). Education can increase this amount depending on circumstances.  LPSO is an equal opportunity employer.

 

Note that this position requires a physical fitness assessment, which consists of the following:

  • 5 pushups in 1 minute.
  • 10 sit-ups within 1 minute.
  • You will have 25 seconds to complete an agility test. You will begin in the prone position, rise to your feet, and sprint through a set of cones including a serpentine.
  • You will have 1 minute & 40 seconds to complete 15 burpees, followed by a 50 ft. sprint, then drag a 70lb. dummy 50 ft.
