Lab Technician – Dyeing Laboratory (Physical Testing)

Purpose of the Role
To ensure the quality and performance of dyed fabrics by conducting physical testing as per established testing standards. The role is responsible for accurate testing, analysis, documentation, equipment maintenance, and timely reporting to support production, quality assurance, and customer compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fabric Physical Testing
- Perform physical testing of fabrics in accordance with approved testing methods and quality standards.
- Conduct tests for various physical properties such as GSM, width, shrinkage, tensile strength, dimensional stability, and other required parameters.
- Ensure all testing activities are carried out accurately and within the defined turnaround time.
- Verify that test results comply with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
2. Test Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze test results and identify any deviations from specified quality parameters.
- Prepare accurate laboratory test reports and communicate findings to the concerned departments.
- Highlight abnormal test results immediately to the production and quality teams for corrective action.
- Support investigations related to product quality issues through laboratory testing.
3. Laboratory Documentation & Equipment Management
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records, test reports, and testing documentation.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning efficiently.
- Record calibration and maintenance activities as per laboratory procedures.
- Maintain sample traceability and proper storage of testing records.
4. Process Compliance & Laboratory Safety
- Follow all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), testing protocols, and quality guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, quality standards, and internal laboratory procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping, and safe working conditions within the laboratory.
- Coordinate effectively with Production, Quality Assurance, and Dyeing teams to support smooth manufacturing operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and testing accuracy.
Key Skills and Competencies Required
- Good knowledge of fabric physical testing methods and textile testing standards.
- Understanding of textile laboratory operations and testing procedures.
- Basic knowledge of textile chemicals and fabric processing.
- Ability to analyze laboratory test results and identify quality deviations.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple testing priorities.
Qualifications
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in a textile dyeing laboratory or fabric testing laboratory.
