Role Overview :
The Lab Manager owns end-to-end technical delivery for environmental testing and monitoring services across data centre / pharma clients. The role covers all six testing disciplines: particle cleanliness, gaseous and corrosion monitoring, indoor air quality, thermal and humidity mapping, airflow and pressure verification, and thermography. It carries direct accountability for NABL accreditation, instrument calibration integrity, field team quality, and the accuracy of every standards-mapped report issued to a client.
Responsibilities:
1. Test Planning and Site Scoping
• Define test parameters and scope against client standards and site layout for every engagement (data halls, MMRs, electrical rooms).
• Review contract scope of work before mobilization to confirm technical requirements match lab capability.
• Schedule and allocate lab technicians across concurrent client site assignments.
2. On-Site Testing Execution and Quality Control
• Ensure calibrated instruments are correctly deployed across all six testing disciplines: particle cleanliness, gaseous and corrosion, indoor air quality, thermal and humidity, airflow and pressure, and thermography.
• Supervise and quality-check field data collection for protocol adherence and repeatability.
• Resolve technical issues and escalations raised by field technicians during on-site testing.
3. Lab Analysis and NABL Compliance
• Own NABL accreditation maintenance: documentation control, internal audits, proficiency testing and corrective action tracking.
• Oversee sample and data analysis to ensure traceable, calibrated results consistent with the ISO/IEC 17025 lab quality framework.
• Maintain calibration schedules and valid calibration certificates for all lab and field instrumentation.
4. Reporting and Certification
• Review and sign off on every standards-mapped test report before client delivery.
• Ensure pass/fail classifications are accurate and defensible under client or third-party audit.
• Develop corrective and remediation recommendations for any flagged zone, in coordination with the client and CTS Operations.
5. Team and Resource Management
• Recruit, train and manage lab technicians and field engineers.
• Own the instrumentation inventory, preventive maintenance schedule and procurement of consumables and spares.
• Manage lab budget, technician utilization and deployment efficiency across engagements.
6. Client and Stakeholder Coordination
• Act as the technical point of contact for client queries on test methodology, standards and results.
• Provide technical input to the Sales team during proposal preparation and site scoping.
• Coordinate with CTS Operations on combined facility management and environmental testing engagements.
Qualifications
B.Sc/M.Sc/B.E/B.Tech in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related field is preferred.
Skills:

– Data centre environment fundamentals: data halls, MMRs, hot/cold aisle containment
– Lab instrumentation: particle counters, IAQ analysers, thermal imaging cameras, micro-manometers, gravimetric sampling equipment
– CPCB norms and applicable environmental regulations & MS Office and lab/report management systems
