Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Management
- Prepare and organize laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and practical sessions.
- Ensure laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials are available and functioning properly.
- Maintain laboratory inventories, records, and consumables.
- Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment.
Teaching and Student Support
- Assist faculty members during laboratory classes and practical sessions.
- Demonstrate laboratory procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices to students.
- Guide students in conducting experiments and collecting data.
- Support assessment of laboratory work, reports, and practical examinations as required.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations and institutional policies.
- Conduct safety briefings and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain safety records, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
Research Support
- Assist faculty and students with laboratory-based research projects.
- Support data collection, testing, and analysis activities.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and documentation.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare laboratory schedules and usage reports.
- Maintain documentation related to equipment, experiments, and safety inspections.
- Participate in departmental meetings and accreditation activities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Relevant laboratory, industry, or teaching experience in petroleum engineering.
- Knowledge of drilling, reservoir, production, well logging, fluid properties, and petroleum testing equipment.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and procedures.
