GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
A Plating Technician 3 is an experienced professional responsible for overseeing and performing plating operations. Primary duties involve applying metal plating to various components and parts using electroplating or other coating methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Preparing surfaces for plating, including cleaning, polishing, and sandblasting
· Selecting appropriate plating materials and chemicals based on the desired finish and application requirements.
· Setting up and maintaining plating equipment, such as tanks, pumps, and power supplies.
· Monitoring and adjusting plating parameters, such as voltage, temperature, and current density, to achieve desired results.
· Conducting tests to ensure that plated parts meet quality standards, such as adhesion, corrosion resistance, and thickness.
· Troubleshooting equipment issues and making necessary repairs or adjustments.
· Maintaining accurate records of plating operations, including usage of chemicals, time spent on each task, and any issues encountered.
· Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to plating operations.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required for this position. Prefer post-secondary education, such as an associate degree in chemistry or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience working in a plating or electroplating facility. Experience working with various plating materials and chemicals, as well as experience with plating equipment and tools.
Skills: Strong technical skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, knowledge of chemical safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain plating equipment. Should also have good communication skills and be able to work well as part of a team.
Certification: Certification in plating or electroplating from a recognized industry organization is a plus.
Overall, the Plating Technician 2 position will have a combination of education, training, and experience in plating and electroplating, as well as strong technical and communication skills.
