Key Responsibilities
Teacher Support, Supervision & Professional Growth
- Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide ongoing, meaningful feedback to teachers
- Hold weekly supervisory meetings with teachers to support instruction, classroom management, and professional reflection
- Guide faculty through goal-setting, performance improvement, and pedagogical growth
- Promote staff morale through recognition, team-building, and supportive leadership
- Implement faculty disciplinary measures when necessary, maintaining professionalism, fairness, and confidentiality
- Serve as a reliable, proactive partner to staff, helping remove obstacles and promote instructional success
Curriculum Leadership
- Lead and support curriculum development and refinement across grades
- Ensure instruction aligns with student goals, state standards, and the school's educational philosophy
- Assist teachers in differentiating lessons and materials
Academic Progress & Graduation Tracking
- Monitor student credit accumulation and ensure students remain on track for graduation
- Coordinate with other school administrators to support pathways to completion
- Communicate progress clearly to students and families
Safety & Facility Oversight
- Help maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive school environment which aligns with applicable regulations
- Oversee safety procedures, emergency drills, and facility-related needs
- Ensure classrooms and common spaces meet accessibility and safety expectations
Leadership & Collaboration
- Support the Principal in all areas as assigned, serving as a dependable and proactive member of the leadership team
- Step in when needed to lead initiatives, problem-solve, provide classroom coverage, or manage daily school operations
- Model professionalism, positivity, and teamwork
Student & Family Engagement
- Build strong, positive relationships with students and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, student support planning, and ongoing family communication
- Help foster a warm, inclusive school culture through events, celebrations, and community-building initiatives
- Plan and participate in after-school family events several times throughout the year
Behavioral & Social–Emotional Support
- Guide development and implementation of behavior intervention plans
- Support staff with evidence-based behavior strategies and crisis intervention planning
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure students receive comprehensive support

Requirements
- NYS Certification in special education
- Minimum of 5 years experience teaching special education students
- Minimum of 2 years providing leadership experience in a school setting
- Skilled in teacher supervision, coaching, and performance management
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans and crisis management
- Excellent verbal and written communicator with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
