As a Contract Logistics Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, you will manage end-to-end warehousing operations for our customers. By doing so with precision, you not only contribute to the success of your team, but also to the day-to-day operations and success in the warehouse and distribution centres. You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising inbound logistics activities to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient shipment of customer orders. Under the direction of a Warehouse Supervisor or Operations Manager, the Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for directing activities in a manner consistent with established goals and company guidelines. Located in Des Plaines, IL. We have flexible schedules.

How you create impact

Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments.
Orderly stacking of product.
Picking and staging outbound shipments per the highest possible levels of quality and productivity.
Verify required inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers, ensuring that all product is properly counted.
Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage and errors.
Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment.
Ensure that the work schedules are correctly implemented, and jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
Maintain product locator system and maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
Ensure the optimal utilization of space through warehouse consolidation.
Rotate the product as appropriate.
Requires frequent walking, carrying, reaching, standing and stooping.
Requires lifting/lowering, pushing, or pulling of various items of varying weight up to 50 lbs.
Requires work from heights of up to 20 feet from the floor.
Requires work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
Conduct operations following OSHA and MSDS standards.
Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
Assure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories.
Adhere to Kuehne + Nagel’s Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment Program policies and procedures.

What we would like you to bring

High School diploma.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lead position where effective employee supervision applies
Detail-oriented, customer-focused, excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
Languages: English – Ability to speak, read, write and interpret documents
Excellent communication skills
Strong analytical and multi-tasking skills
Candidate must have Parts Technical Analyst (PTA) certification for Inbound function
