About the role

About Us:

We are Kraftshala. We are an online higher education institution committed to playing the long game of building a transformative skilling experience for the masses. We call this ‘Scaling with Soul’.

Scaling with Soul, to us, means we always prioritise student outcomes– specifically our Placement Rate (percentage of students placed)- over other metrics, such as number of enrolments or company valuation in the coming year.

This is, of course, easier said than done. There are painful choices to be made at every stage, from admissions to training to placements, that wouldn’t have been needed were we willing to give up on either of high quality or scale.

But in the long run, we believe that our obsession over these student outcomes will earn Kraftshala the trust of Indian students, their families, recruiting companies and the broader ecosystem.

That’s why we make each of our Placement Reports public, capturing how many students are placed in each batch, in what companies, at what salaries etc.

We don’t need to. None of our competitors do (though we’d be happy to be proven wrong and have more educators join us!). Simply put, we have tasted the benefits of an education model grounded in high quality paired with the transparency of student outcomes and now cannot imagine doing it any other way.

We are not the largest in terms of enrollments. Not yet.

However, we are proud to be one of the largest, if not the largest already, in terms of actual, verifiable placements.

And in terms of Placement Rate, the metric that matters most to us, we are the absolute best in edtech. In the last 4 years, we have placed more than 2400+ students with a Placement Rate of 94% (and improving).

This is our long game- to Scale with Soul. We invite you to join us for the play.

Funding:

Kraftshala is backed by number of eminent investors, including

  • Phanindra Sama and Sudhakar Pasupunuri, co-founders at Redbus and early investors in unicorns like Unacademy
  • Amit Kumar Agarwal, Saurabh Garg and Akhil Gupta, co-founders at Nobroker.com (the world’s largest NoBrokerage Property Site and India’s first realty startup unicorn)
  • Sujayathi Ali, Co-founder at ShopUp and Voonik
  • Doreswamy Nandkishore (Former Fortune 100 CEO, Head of Asia, Oceania, Africa for Nestlé S.A. and Professor, ISB)
  • Pallav Jain and Sarfaraz Khimani (co-CEOs of Performics, India's largest SEO/ performance marketing agencies)

What do we value (the Kraftshala Kode):

Kraftshala is on a mission to become the largest career launchpad in the world.

Team Kraftshala is for the ambitious, the forever-learners, and most of all, for those who live to add value to others. In a world where education companies often lose sight of their core, we aim to Scale with Soul, to offer greater value to each stakeholder (including our team) everyday we get bigger.

Joining Kraftshala now means becoming part of a story still in its early chapters- one you’ll help shape with your ideas, actions, and leadership. Here are things we care for:

  1. We seek a value-adding mindset in prospective team mates. Folks who demonstrate a capacity to understand their users' needs and are willing to go the extra mile to deliver on that, fit right in.
  2. We value problem solving skills. We look at problems objectively, work backwards from the user, solve for root causes and optimise for their long-term good instead of our short-term gain. We don’t let processes or hierarchies get in the way of adding value.
  3. We believe speed matters enormously in business. We value people who move with urgency, have a bias for action and are willing to take calculated risks in the face of uncertainty.
  4. We look for people with high learning agility, those truth seekers who pursue the best data, ideas, and solutions with rigour and open mindedness, and are constantly working to become better today than yesterday.
  5. We admire people with ambition & courage to take on large goals. We are seeking to build a team of self-starters who demonstrate high ownership.
  6. We aim for consistency and reliability and expect the same from others. Predictability just makes everyone’s life a lot smoother.
  7. We believe people who demonstrate candour with care are the most effective: real, open and direct in communication, while still being highly empathetic.
  8. We have learnt that Scaling with Soul requires frugality. Resource constraints help sharpen focus and breed inventiveness.
  9. We are practical optimists. Our team strongly believes in a better future and takes joy and pride in the fact that we are playing our part to make that future a reality.

Role Description

As the E-Commerce Training Lead, you will build the next generation of e-commerce marketers in India. This is a high-ownership role where you’ll report directly to Kraftshala’s Co-founder & Head of Academics, and be responsible for everything we create and deliver in the e-commerce and quick-commerce training module.

What are the metrics you are trying to move?

Placement Percentage Rate (Primary Metric)

This is the single most important indicator of success in this role. It depends on:

  • Cutting-edge curriculum: Actively speak to industry experts and ensure best practices, case studies, and real-world tactics from e-com and q-com in India are embedded into the program.
  • High-quality, real projects: Ensure students work on projects that replicate an actual e-commerce manager’s role — creating real landing pages, products, websites, running ads, managing listings, and more.
  • Placement analytics insights: Regularly analyze the placement dashboard to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to improve the curriculum for better hiring outcomes.

Student NPS (Happiness & Engagement)

Your role is to ensure students are not just learning, but loving the process:

  • Create fun, engaging, and highly interactive learning experiences — from using memes, GIFs, and polls to weaving in the latest brand case studies students care about.
  • Keep energy high in online sessions and ensure students lean into the coursework despite remote learning distractions.
  • Experiment with tools like Kahoots, quizzes, and live challenges to keep engagement consistently high.

Correlation Between Internal Assessments and Placement Success

  • Design interviews, viva presentations, and practical assessments that mirror real hiring and on-the-job evaluation criteria.
  • Continuously refine these assessments so top performers internally go on to excel in the job market.
  • Use data to ensure strong predictive validity between our internal evaluations and actual placement outcomes.

What you will be doing:

Training  (~80% of your time):

All members of the Kraftshala marketing team (including the co-founders) spend a substantial portion of their time in training emerging talent

  • Content Development: You’ll be combining insights from your experience, plus conversations from top marketing/ digital experts in India to create simplified frameworks for professionals and students. You would be asked to experiment with new tools, platforms etc to help our training programs up-to-date.
  • Training: You will also be taking regular sessions for small and large groups on a variety of marketing topics. This includes taking regular sessions for students of The Marketing Launchpad to shape the careers of emerging digital marketers. You can see examples of the sessions we create by viewing the Kraftshala LIVE Series: https://kraftshala.com/kraftshala-live-professional-series/
  • Coaching: You will also be working with our network of external coaches to help them deliver an ever improving training experience to our students.
  • Program Design: You will be designing learning experiences to deliver outstanding careers for students. This involves looking and analysing a lot of data including student learning outcomes, recruiter feedback, student feedback and more to create an educational experience which is challenging yet fulfilling for students. You can check out what students say about our learning experience: Click here

20% of your time:

  • Consulting: In order to keep your skills sharp, from time to time, you will be consulting students on e-commerce projects with our partnering brands such that while our students learn, the campaigns for our partnering brands are delivered well
  • Innovation: You’ll also be involved in building new propositions/products by creating and evaluating concepts as Kraftshala expands to different audiences.

To summarize:

The learnings that you’ll get through training, speaking to experts on the one hand and simplifying concepts for beginners on the other hand, will enable you to consult on running better campaigns, which in turn will help you train better. This virtuous loop will help you become a kickass marketing professional.

Monthly Outcomes:

Month 1:

  • Understand Kraftshala’s training philosophy, academic standards, and learning approach
  • Attend and co-facilitate live training sessions to observe pedagogy in action
  • Speak to Ecom experts from different categories and industries and collate best practices
  • Join a student facing project in a supporting role to get exposure to real brand work

Month 2:

  • Independently lead small-group sessions on key e-commerce topics
  • Deliver your first live sessions for our students
  • Finalize and roll out your first revamped or newly created module
  • Take ownership of performance tracking and student feedback for at least one learning module
  • Begin mentoring 1-2 external coaches to help them improve session delivery and impact

Month 3 and beyond:

  • Take full ownership of all e-commerce and quick-commerce modules, including training delivery, content iterations, and coach enablement
  • Independently lead student-facing consulting projects with real brands, ensuring student application and client success
  • Drive innovation in learning design by piloting new formats, tools, or data-led experiments and ensure our training remains cutting-edge and industry-relevant

A question we’d like to address upfront is what the career trajectory looks like for someone in this role.

There are 2 broad possibilities of what you could be doing 5 years from now:

  • If your sweet spot turns out to be the aspect of working with people in a more intimate fashion and helping them grow, you can also specialize as a training expert and leader at Kraftshala.
  • If you end up enjoying the core activities of marketing more than the training piece, you’ll be a marketing leader within Kraftshala who’s focused on helping us grow the brand. Your role would be similar to a marketing leader in other consumer internet businesses, albeit with greater knowledge and perspective due to your time training other professionals.

These are starting thoughts, of course, and any decision on a role is always a function of what a person wants matched with what the organization can offer at that time. The great advantage of a company that’s growing well (like Kraftshala) is that new opportunities open up frequently, and our preference would always be to try to fill up newly created roles with candidates from within the organization.

Top Grading:

Here’s what exceptional performance looks like in this role - and what doesn’t.

  • Curiosity & Truth-Seeking Mindset: A-Player: Asks thoughtful, first-principles questions; digs deep to understand how things actually work - whether it's a marketing algorithm or a student’s struggle with a concept. B-Player: Accepts things at face value, sticks to surface-level understanding, and is hesitant to challenge assumptions.
  • Training Mindset: A-Player: Cares deeply about the learner’s journey; uses analogies, frameworks, and energy to simplify and clarify even the most complex ideas. B-Player: Shares what they know but doesn’t consider the learner’s experience or level of understanding.
  • Content Ownership: A-Player: Builds structured, relevant, and easy-to-remember content; treats each module like a product worth iterating and perfecting. B-Player: Delivers acceptable content but avoids rework or refining beyond the basics.
  • Execution: A-Player: Works with clarity and discipline; preps thoroughly, meets deadlines, and delivers sessions that are buttoned-up and well thought-through. B-Player: Scrambles close to deadlines; tends to overlook details or rely on improvisation too often.
  • Communication & Collaboration: A-Player: Offers and receives feedback with openness and care; builds trust with external coaches and internal teammates alike. B-Player: Avoids tough conversations or feedback loops; prefers working in isolation.
  • Learning Agility: A-Player: Learns new tools, platforms, and ideas quickly; shows excitement for staying ahead of industry trends. B-Player: Struggles to adapt to change or prefers to stick with familiar ways of doing things.

Must-Have Skills:

  • A structured, data-driven, user-centric approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to see the big picture as well as the easy-to-miss details

Good-To-Haves:

  • Experience in driving growth for brands on Quick-commerce platforms like BlinkIt / Zepto
  • Inventory forecasting & planning, and P&L management of a category

Selection Process:

As a small team, we must get to know each other before taking the leap. We want to ensure you succeed in your role within our team. Each conversation with us will last about 30-60 minutes. The process will occur over a mix of online and offline conversations.

  1. Setting Expectations: This will be a call to understand your profile briefly and share the details of the selection process.
  2. Conversation 1: This will be a conversation with our Co-Founder & Head of Academics wherein you can expect to be evaluated on the competencies needed for the job (mentioned above).
  3. Technical Exercise: This is a specific assessment designed to evaluate your fit for this role
  4. Conversation 2: This will be a detailed assessment review conversation to go over your submission for the technical exercise.
  5. Conversation 3: A conversation with our CEO to ensure that there is a fit with the Kraftshala Kode.
  6. Extending an offer: If all goes well, we will extend an offer that will mention the relevant details.
