About the role

KPS3 is seeking a skilled and driven communications professional to join our team as PR Manager.

You know how to find the story, nail the pitch and keep a client campaign moving — from the first brainstorm to the final results report. You're the kind of person who spots opportunities in a news cycle, writes things people actually want to read and doesn't need someone breathing down your neck to get it done.

If you believe PR is more than a press release, keep reading. If you know that great content starts with smart strategy and solid data, keep reading. If you want to work somewhere that rewards bold thinking, invests in your growth and actually walks the walk on its values, we want to meet you.

As our PR Manager, you'll independently manage a handful of clients, support the broader PR team and play a key role in delivering results that move the needle for the brands we represent.

We are looking for a motivated mid-level PR professional based in the Greater Reno/Tahoe area who can:

  • Develop public relations plans based on PRSA’s RPIE model, with guidance from department leadership.
  • Write AP-style news and creative content grounded in strategy and data—and write a lot of it.
  • Manage all project work with independence and accountability, from strategy through execution and reporting.
  • Manage a select roster of clients with autonomy, serving as their day-to-day PR contact
  • Pitch local, regional and national media and deliver quality, newsworthy placements.
  • Proactively identify and pursue earned media opportunities for clients.
  • Manage editorial and content calendars with precision and foresight.
  • Stay current on news trends and quickly assess opportunities across individual client accounts.
  • Work with influencers—from outreach and direction to contract negotiations and reporting.
  • Conduct research to sharpen client story pitches and leverage market opportunities.
  • Prepare for and participate in client meetings, with the ability to present confidently.
  • Support communications strategy during a crisis or emerging issue.
  • Help plan and execute media events.
  • Measure, measure, measure—track KPIs, report on results and know what’s actually working.
  • Learn and leverage tools like Muck Rack and Data Studio to drive results.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple clients and priorities.
  • Love being part of an integrated team delivering excellent client results.

Some perks and company stuff:

• We pay 100% medical, dental and vision insurance premiums for you
• Can’t forget about life insurance—we cover that, too
• 401k match. Booyah!
• We give an annual lifestyle benefit card that you get to spend on whatever helps you have fun/relax
• You get loads of time off (20 days to start, not including eight paid holidays)
• We don’t work on old computers or have old software
• Flexibility. Sometimes it's leaving early for an appointment; sometimes it's a late night to hit a deadline. We both have priorities and work to balance them.
• If you want to learn, go to a conference, or get certified, we encourage and pay for it
• We give longevity bonuses at one, three, five and 10 years
• Dogs and cats are allowed… assuming they’re friendly and well-trained

We ask that candidates apply if they have meaningful experience in the public relations or communications industry, with agency experience preferred. An undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., public relations, journalism, communications, marketing) is required. Spanish-English bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
