About the role

A little about us...We're Komodo Digital, a Newcastle-based digital studio with a passion for solving complex prob... See this and similar jobs on Glassdoor About the Role We're looking for a Senior Designer to join our team—someone who can pick up and run projects autonomously while also being a great collaborator. This role reports directly to the Design Director, who will provide you with guidance and support throughout the design process. As a Senior Designer at Komodo Digital, you'll be at the forefront of our creative projects. You'll take ownership of the design process from start to finish, leading the way in creating innovative solutions for our clients. You'll run discovery workshops, develop concepts, and turn ideas into beautifully crafted digital products. This role is about balancing creativity with practicality —taking complex ideas and turning them into intuitive, user-friendly designs that work seamlessly across platforms. You'll work closely with clients to understand their needs and guide them through the design process, ensuring their vision is brought to life. Collaboration is critical —you'll work alongside developers, product managers, and other designers to deliver projects that meet our high quality and creativity standards. We also need you to be comfortable facilitating workshops, conducting user research, and presenting your ideas clearly and effectively. This is a hybrid role, so you need to be able (and happy) to work from our Newcastle studio a few days a week. We value flexibility but thrive on the energy of in-person collaboration. We also require you to attend any client meetings/workshops in the office when scheduled. About you You're an experienced designer with the ability to take ownership of projects, working both independently and as part of a team. You value strong design principles and believe in solid foundations over fleeting trends. You're friendly, hardworking, and sociable. We're looking for someone as comfortable leading a client workshop as they are chatting with colleagues in the studio. You're confident running discovery workshops and creative sessions independently—you love diving deep into understanding our clients and their challenges. Required Skills & Expertise Highly creative and imaginative, showcasing strong UI/UX and visual skills with a portfolio to demonstrate your work. Solid understanding of design principles and best practices and an ability to create intuitive, user-centred digital products across web and mobile platforms. Keen to stay updated with the industry, tools, and technologies. You'll advocate for best practices in design. We're not a big fan of trends here. Solid design principles matter more. Experience with Figma, FigJam/Miro, and prototyping tools to design wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs. Strong communication skills with the ability to present and articulate design decisions to internal teams and clients. Able to work independently after direction and collaboratively with developers, product managers, and stakeholders. Excellent time management, multitasking skills, and confidence in running workshops and client meetings. Open to receiving and providing feedback to improve designs and processes.
