About the role
We are looking for an L1 Linux/GCP Support Engineer to provide first-level support for cloud-based infrastructure, focusing on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Linux environments. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues while collaborating with senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and respond to system alerts, incidents, and requests.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Linux servers, GCP services, and network connectivity.
Assist in configuring and maintaining GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Networking).
Perform basic system administration tasks (user management, file systems, permissions).
Escalate complex issues to higher-level support when required.
Document and track support requests in a ticketing system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow).
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain system efficiency.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and third-party vendors.
Participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 support when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Linux systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and command-line tools.
Familiarity with GCP services and cloud computing concepts.
Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
Experience with ticketing systems and IT support processes.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose technical issues.
Fluency in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
Willingness to work in a shift-based/on-call support environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Linux (LPIC-1, RHCSA) or Google Cloud (GCP Associate) certification is a plus.
Experience with automation tools (Bash, Python, etc.).
Familiarity with DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, etc.) is an advantage.
