Description
Kitchell is looking for a Senior Field Engineer to join our Tucson, AZ, team. This will support field supervision in the coordination of Trade Partners, field quality assurance, and site safety plan, verification that work conforms to our contract documents, and other specific assignments as determined by the Project Superintendent.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Acquire a thorough knowledge of the project plans and specifications, estimates, schedules, critical path elements, and sequencing/phasing of the project.
- Obtain a thorough knowledge of building methods, materials, job flow, building sequence and other related concepts that were the basis for the Baseline Project Schedule.
- Acquire knowledge of Craft/Trades means and methods of construction.
- Maintain a knowledge base through continuing education opportunities.
- Assist in the supervision and coordination of field forces as directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Participate in Trade Partner week meeting, including coordination and follow-up with the commitments made regarding Trade Partner coordination.
- Prepare and distribute Project Daily Reports, including crew sizes and detailed information descriptions of work progress by area/floor for each Trade Partner, as directed by the Project Superintendent.
- Review and assist in checking shop drawings for field coordination issues and coordinate the field distribution and utilization of approved shop drawings by crews in the field.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with all architects, engineers, and inspectors assigned to the project.
- Prepare actual start and completion dates for work in progress,s and participate in the monthly Project Schedule updates with the job team.
- Coordinate with the project team to ensure that equipment and long lead materials arrive on the project on time.
- Participate in the weekly review of the Project Expediting Log with the Project Superintendent.
- Assist the Project Superintendent with site logistics coordination as requested.
- Coordinate and assist the Project Superintendent with the Trade Partner pre-installation meetings, construction of mock-ups, and Trade Partner site orientation issues.
- Submit field coordination/conflict issues to the Project Superintendent for direction regarding resolution or submittal in a Request for Information (RFI).
Requirements
Required:
• This position requires a minimum of 3 years of field experience with a related associate's or higher degree or 6 years of experience without a degree.
• CPR certified.
• Fork Lift Certified.
• Fall Protection Certified or willing to attain within the first 6 months of employment.
• OSHA 30 certification or willing to attain within the first 6 months of employment.
Desired:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of all elements of commercial construction and understanding of skilled trades.
Work Environment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently inspects the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, while wearing personal protective equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
• The worker is subject to both environmental conditions due to work activities occurring both inside and outside.
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours.
• Must be able and willing to work shift work and or off-hour work.
• Must be willing and able to work on holidays as required.
