Job Summary: The Maintenance Planner determines and prepares the necessary actions, materials, information, tools, resources, and conditions which define a comprehensive maintenance program, to achieve high reliability in a manufacturing operation. Through a study of the equipment, operation, maintenance procedures, and hazards, author efficient planned maintenance activity in the form of records in a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Essential Job Functions:
- Research many pieces of equipment to determine a maintenance plan for each. Study the actual machine, the manuals, use online resources, review the machine’s history, engage the OEM, ask operators and maintenance technicians.
- Generate Work Orders, Activities, Task Plans, Material Lists, Checklists, Preventive Maintenance Schedules all in an Asset Management system.
- Work with Reliability Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and Maintenance Technicians to improve the efficiency and safety of our maintenance plans.
- Generate Asset records including model and serial numbers, attach information, create parts.
- Prepare and execute maintenance plans for commissioning new equipment.
- Investigate and purchase repair material, supplies, tools, and upgrades.
- Create and maintain electronic records of present and past work orders.
- Visualize the maintenance activity to arrange steps safely and efficiently.
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or a Health Safety and Environmental team member.
- Participates in proactive teams to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5 years’ experience in maintenance and manufacturing settings required
- Mechanical experience and/or background preferred
- Desire to research and learn the equipment in detail
- Ability to plan, that is to visualize and arrange events that have not occurred
- Working knowledge of CNC machines
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical blueprints
- Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical systems, motion control, automation, and lubrication systems.
- Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, manlifts and safety procedures
- Intermediate computer skills
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean MVR
- Must pass background check and drug screen

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Vocational or technical training preferred
- Industry and manufacturer training preferred
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment – PPE required in specific areas
- Potential proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical currents, oils and chemicals
- Potential exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
- Extreme temperatures for more than an hour possible
- Consistently elevated noise levels in work area
- Frequently required to work in crawl spaces and shafts
