About the role

Kidology is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist (BSC) to join our growing team and build a caseload supporting preschool-aged children in Early Intervention classroom settings. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young children develop social-emotional, communication, and self-regulation skills in a structured, supportive environment.

Description

Position Overview


The Behavior Support Specialist (BSC) provides behavioral support services to preschool-aged children in an Early Intervention (EI) classroom setting. The BSC works collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to support social-emotional development, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote participation in structured and unstructured activities.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide direct behavioral support to children in the classroom environment
  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under supervision
  • Support children in developing social, communication, and self-regulation skills
  • Assist with transitions, routines, and structured classroom activities
  • Collect data on target behaviors and document progress accurately and timely
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members (SLPs, OTs, teachers, and supervisors)
  • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers regarding strategies and progress
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
  • Follow all EI, agency, and classroom policies and procedures
  • Attend required trainings, supervision sessions, and team meetings

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with preschool-aged children (preferred)
  • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder or developmental delays is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Certifications & Requirements


  • CPR and First Aid certification (required; must remain current at all times)
  • Clearances as required by state regulations (e.g., Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI Fingerprinting)
  • Ability to meet physical demands of working with young children (e.g., sitting on the floor, assisting with movement, etc.)

Preferred Skills


  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
  • Experience with behavior management strategies in a classroom setting
  • Familiarity with Early Intervention services and regulations
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in high-need or challenging situations
