Our Rochester, MN location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and specializes in fermented ingredients for products related to the bio-science industry. Our team is proud of the work they do and have a focus on clean label or natural products ensuring freshness.

Key responsibilities

What you'll do:

Lead and perform detailed and robust cleaning activities on specialized production and packaging equipment including, but not limited to, fermenters, blend tanks, dryers, evaporators, and sifters.

Fully understands all chemicals at the site including the proper usage, handling, and PPE safety precautions and exposure procedures. Understands chemical dilution and titration procedures.
Operates foamers, pressure washers, hose stations, and floor scrubbers in an efficient and workmanlike manner. Uses washing chemicals in a safe manner as established by the site.
Performs and assists in COP (Clean-Out-of-Place) procedures including assembling disassembling, operating, troubleshooting and cleaning specialized equipment such as valve blocks, pumps, etc.
Cleans and sanitizes steps, railing landings, ledges, lights, and floors. Operates stepladders, skyjacks, scaffolding and apparatuses in in adherence with site’s safety standards.
Washes and sanitizes walls, tank exteriors, and overhead pipes, which may require repetitive motion on a routine basis.
Completes and marks off completion of cleaning activities in adherence with site’s Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) by following Good Documentation Practices.
Operates CIP (Clean-In-Place) systems to effective clean and sanitize production assets and understands the use of CIP chemicals and CIP process. Fills and maintains barrels of chemicals for production and sanitation use.

Qualifications and skills

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: None required. Six months to one-year experience in a food manufacturing environment desirable.

SKILLS Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel. Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions.

Required to read and follow rules for maintaining a sanitary plant.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

A. The physical demands of this position include the ability to walk and stand on a regular basis. Will be expected to scrub, sweep, and scour in a repetitive motion for long periods of time. Must climb stairs and ladders. The ability to reach, bend/stoop, crouch, squat, push/pull and manipulate is frequently required. Must be able lift full pails of washing solution, jugs of chemicals, equipment, or move bags of product that could weigh 50 pounds and occasionally more. Vision and the ability to read and write are required to perform this job. Talking and hearing are not essential functions of this position.

B. The job is mostly performed inside. There is exposure to humidity, dust, fumes, noise, and chemical agents. Hearing protection is required. On occasion there is close proximity to moving objects and sharp tools and limited room for movement when staging product. The floor surface is linoleum, metal grates, or concrete frequently wet in some areas. The temperature is variable based on the season and the task being performed.

C. Must be able to work in cold and hot environments and able to work outside of the building as needed (i.e. snow removal, trash pickup around the building)

Compensation Data

The pay rate for this position is $22.25 per hour.
