Job Summary
The Engineering Detailer is responsible for producing detailed engineering drawings and documentation for specifically designed equipment systems. This role works closely with engineering teams to convert CAD models and design concepts into manufacturing-ready documentation including part drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.
The Engineering Detailer plays a critical role in transforming engineering concepts and CAD models into accurate manufacturing drawings and technical documentation used by fabrication, assembly, and field service teams.
The Detailer ensures that engineering documentation clearly communicates design intent and provides the information required for fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and field support.
Essential Functions
Engineering Documentation
- Produce detailed engineering drawings from CAD models created by engineering teams.
- Create part drawings, assembly drawings, and exploded views for equipment systems.
- Generate and maintain bill of materials (BOM) documentation.
- Ensure drawings meet Kendall Howard documentation standards and formatting requirements.
Manufacturing Support
- Prepare drawing packages for fabrication and manufacturing.
- Ensure drawings contain necessary tolerances, materials, finishes, and fabrication instructions.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure documentation supports production requirements.
Engineering Collaboration
- Work closely with GEMSTONE engineering teams to translate design concepts into detailed drawings.
- Update drawings as engineering changes are implemented.
- Assist engineers with documentation required for prototype builds and design revisions.
Document Control
- Maintain drawing revisions and version control.
- Ensure engineering documentation is properly stored and organized.
- Support engineering change processes and maintain revision history records.
Operational Support
- Provide documentation updates required for service manuals and maintenance procedures.
- Assist with preparation of engineering documentation used by field engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in drafting, design technology, engineering technology, or related field.
- 2+ years experience producing technical drawings in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting mechanical product development.
- Experience preparing fabrication drawings for sheet metal or mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with bill of materials management and engineering change processes.
- Experience supporting manufacturing or prototype development teams.
