POSITION: Electronic Technician II
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor(s) of Maintenance
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 261 days annually
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code �18A-4-8a, in accordance with Kanawha County Salary Scale, Pay Grade G2 commensurate with experience and education level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code �18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and KCS's Guide to Performance Evaluation for Service Personnel.
JOB SUMMARY: To do repairs, trouble shooting and maintenance and installation on all electronic and associated electrical equipment to allow maximum use of the facilities by the clients of Kanawha County School System.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.
- Maintains and repairs video monitors, VCR's, cameras, and related video equipment.
- Maintains and repairs public address systems, tape recorders, intercoms, related audio equipment and fire alarm equipment.
- Installs and maintains cable TV systems, antennas, receiving equipment, satellite receivers and related equipment.
- Maintains and installs telephone systems and related equipment.
- Maintains and installs computer networking systems.
- Maintains and installs computerized HVAC controls.
- Maintains and installs burglar alarm systems. Keep informed of current electronics equipment and capabilities and maintains records on equipment. Operate all electronic equipment.
- Trouble shoots in the shop and on the school sights to correct problems.
- Maintains records showing time and materials in all operations. Provide routine and preventive maintenance checks and inspections on electronic equipment.
- Maintains, installs, and repairs language labs in schools.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Complies with KCS Policies.
- Complete necessary training and in-service as required by KCS.
- Receives permission from building principal/supervisor to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
- Attends in-services and workshops as directed.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations and uses prescribed personal protective equipment.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Continuously improves processes.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code �18A-2-5; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code �18-5-15c; Meet the definition of "Qualifications" in WV Code �18A-4-8b; demonstrated competency, pursuant to WV Code �18A-4-8e (state-approved competency test) as required. Completion of a formal electronics training program preferred, certification as electronic technician and skilled in electronic troubleshooting. Must have one to three years' experience in electronics repair and maintenance work. Licensed journeyman electrician preferred.

Electronics Technician II means personnel employed at the journeyman level to repair and maintain electronic equipment.
- Ability to install and repair all electronic equipment in the county system.
- Must have a thorough knowledge, and be able to use hand tools and electronic measuring devices and materials for electronics installation and maintenance.
- Ability to repair of equipment and locating problems.
- Ability to trouble shooting and requires extensive problem solving abilities.
- Ability to repair equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach overhead and shoulder height, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, use interior and exterior rear view mirrors, and use repetitive motions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 50 pounds of materials, children, etc. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
