The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.
We are currently seeking a Behavior Technician at KRESA Transition Services in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Align services with KRESA Core Values (Collaboration, Innovation, Compassion, Respect, and Integrity) and Culture & Belonging principles to engage and serve all students
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Collect and record data on client behavior and progress, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Provide direct support to clients in various settings, including home, school, and community environments.
- Assist in the development and modification of treatment plans based on client needs and progress.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to behavior management.
- Conduct skill-building activities to promote social, communication, and daily living skills.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development and stay current with best practices.
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients, adhering to ethical guidelines and confidentiality standards.
- Engage in ongoing communication with clients and their families to provide updates and gather feedback on progress.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges is highly desirable.
Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma; Minimum of 3 years of experience within behavior support field and classes/training in the area of behavior intervention and support preferred. Willing to obtain Registered Behavior Technician certification.

This is a 10-month calendar position in job grade 14 with an annual rate of pay between $33,694.65 and $48,589.20.

Summary:
Behavior Technicians work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often intense environment to provide behavioral
interventions to students who have language, communication, behavioral and developmental delays.
Interventions are individualized to meet the needs of each student and used to decrease problem and
aggressive behavior as well as to promote skill acquisition. The Behavior Technician will also respond
when teams need help with challenging behavior in the moment. This can be in any area of the building,
any classroom, on a bus or in the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Align services with KRESA Core Values (Collaboration, Innovation, Compassion, Respect, and
Integrity) and Culture & Belonging principles to engage and serve all students
• Assisting in the creation and implementation of behavior plans
• Coaches staff on using positive behavior supports and models a positive approach to behavior
• Demonstrates the belief that behavior is communication
• Responding to behavior radio calls/emergencies
• Observing and collecting data on student behavior and fidelity of plan implementation
• Assist in observing and planning for WELC/VC student’s transition to KRESA Transition Services
• Meeting with teams to review their data and problem solve solutions
• Meeting with teams to debrief after a behavior incident
• Complete, review and track behavior incident and injury forms
• Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule, as needed
• Regular and consistent attendance
• Other duties as assigned

handbook.
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma; Minimum of 3 years of experience within behavior support field and classes/training

Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50

employee may need to intervene physically from time to time with students whose actions are creating
imminent danger and use Ukeru techniques to keep the student and others safe. The employee is expected
to drive between Kalamazoo RESA buildings, local districts and to workshops, trainings and conferences.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but can be moderate to loud at times.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace
