Role- Kafka Engineer
Location-Gurgaon
Experience-3-5 Years
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage and support Apache Kafka clusters in production environments.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Kafka using Strimzi / AMQ Streams Operators.
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and availability using Prometheus, Grafana, and logging tools (EFK/Loki).
- Perform incident management, troubleshooting issues such as:
- ISR/URP issues
- Consumer lag
- Broker instability
- Leader election and rebalancing
- Handle Kafka topic management (partitions, replication, retention policies).
- Work with Kafka Connect, Kafka Bridge, and MirrorMaker for data integration and replication.
- Manage ActiveMQ (AMQ) configurations including queues, DLQ, expiry queues, and redelivery policies.
- Execute capacity planning, scaling, and storage management activities.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
- Manage rolling upgrades, CRD updates, and version upgrades of Kafka clusters.
- Ensure security compliance using:
- TLS/mTLS
- SASL/SCRAM
- OAuth/OIDC (Keycloak)
- RBAC and network policies
- Collaborate with DevOps, application teams, and support teams for smooth operations.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure smooth shift handovers.
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in Kafka Administration / Messaging Systems.
- Strong understanding of:
- Kafka architecture (topics, partitions, offsets, consumer groups)
- OpenShift/Kubernetes (pods, deployments, services, ingress/routes)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Strimzi / AMQ Streams
- CLI tools: oc, kubectl, Kafka CLI, AMQ CLI
- Experience with Kafka Connect, MirrorMaker, Kafka Bridge
- Knowledge of ActiveMQ (JMS) concepts and configurations
- Experience in monitoring & alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed systems
- Familiarity with log analysis and observability tools (EFK/Loki)
- Experience in handling production incidents and SLA-driven environments
- Good understanding of security protocols (TLS, SASL, OAuth, RBAC)
- Strong communication, analytical, and documentation skills
