Role Overview
As a Junior Tester Intern, you will work alongside our Testing Head and engineering teams to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our internal and client-facing software products. This role is an excellent entry point into the software testing profession, giving you hands-on exposure to manual testing, defect life cycles, and foundational test automation concepts in a structured, mentored environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and analyse software requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to derive test scenarios.
- Log, track, and verify defects in the bug tracking system (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) with clear and reproducible steps.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives under an Agile/Scrum framework.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and testing lead to resolve defects and clarify requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and updating existing test suites and test documentation.
- Perform exploratory testing and provide feedback on usability and edge-case scenarios.
- Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) coordination with internal stakeholders when required.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Familiarity with fundamental testing concepts: test cases, test plans, defect life cycle, and test environments.
- Ability to communicate test results and issues clearly in written and verbal English.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Good to Have
- Exposure to any bug tracking tool (JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of SQL for database validation.
- Understanding of REST APIs and how to test them manually via Postman.
- Prior academic project work involving testing, QA, or validation activities.
