Role Description The Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate is a full-time (2 No.s), on-site role based in working within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BITS Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus or BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus.. The role involves conducting literature reviews, assisting in experimental design, performing simulations or laboratory experiments, and collecting and analyzing data under the guidance of faculty supervisors. The team member will contribute to the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and presentations, and support documentation required for project funding and compliance. Daily responsibilities also include coordinating with collaborators, maintaining research records, using relevant software tools, and participating in group meetings, seminars, and discussions to share progress and insights.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with knowledge of core subjects such as fluid mechanics, heat transfer, CFD
- Proficiency in research-related activities, including literature review, data collection, analysis, and scientific documentation.
- Familiarity with engineering tools and software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, data analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python) relevant to mechanical engineering research.
- Ability to design and conduct experiments or simulations, follow laboratory protocols, and adhere to safety and ethical guidelines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports, publications, and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a research team, manage time effectively, and meet project milestones.
- Minimum qualification of B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field; higher degrees (M.E./M.Tech) or prior research experience are advantageous.
- Interest in pursuing research-oriented careers or higher studies, with willingness to learn new methods, tools, and technologies.
