Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Research Scientist in Carbohydrate Science. The selected candidate will own and execute research projects, design and run laboratory experiments, analyze data, and prepare detailed scientific reports.
Responsibilities include leading carbohydrate science experiments, driving millet processing and functional ingredient formulation trials, executing shelf life and stability studies, driving process optimization initiatives, and collaborating with scientists and process teams on the development of novel functional food ingredients.
High-performing candidates will be considered for long-term core R&D positions
Location: ICAR-IIMR Nutrihub, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and research background
Qualifications
• Strong foundation in R&D with the ability to plan, execute, and document experimental studies with scientific rigor
• Proficiency in laboratory skills, including experimental design, data collection, and handling laboratory chemicals, food-grade ingredients, and analytical samples
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret experimental results and generate actionable scientific insights
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary research teams
• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related fields — M.Sc / M.Tech preferred
• Knowledge of carbohydrate science, millet processing, nutraceutical formulation, or functional ingredients preferred
• Familiarity with shelf life testing, food packaging, or FSSAI standards is an advantage
• Experience with extrusion, milling, or thermal processing equipment is desirable
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about scientific research and food innovation
