The Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Wellbeing (SCEW), part of Symbiosis International University (SIU), is committed to fostering a compassionate community by promoting emotional resilience and wellness among individuals. SCEW provides accessible and professional mental health counselling to SIU students. The center offers a wide range of initiatives, including webinars, workshops, and panel discussions featuring experts on relevant mental health topics. During the Covid-19 pandemic, SCEW adapted to offer both on-site and virtual counselling, addressing critical mental health challenges and supporting students effectively.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bengaluru for a Junior Psychological Counsellor. The role involves conducting psychological counselling sessions for students to address mental health concerns. The counsellor will also participate in the planning and delivery of mental health awareness programs, workshops, and webinars. Additional responsibilities include maintaining client records, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and staying updated with industry best practices to ensure a high standard of care.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in counselling methodologies, therapeutic techniques, and active listening
- Knowledge of mental health assessment, psychological theories, and intervention strategies
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and empathetic skills
- Ability to organize and conduct webinars, workshops, and wellness events
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related field
- Relevant experience in mental health counselling or working with adolescents and young adults is a plus
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
- Proficiency in maintaining detailed and confidential client records
