Role Purpose:
As a Junior Project Manager – Energy Projects at NewCold, you will support the Energy & Sustainability team in advancing global energy projects. The role supports the structured planning, coordination, execution, and closure of projects across NewCold. The person will help to translate project objectives into clear plans, maintains control of schedules, actions, risks, budgets, and documentation, and coordinates contributors to keep delivery on track. Candidate will Work closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams, to provide reliable project information, to follow through on commitments, and to support timely & evidence-based decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of projects in line with agreed scope, schedule, budget, quality requirements, and business objectives.
- Work independently as project manager across the project lifecycle, from problem definition and concept development through implementation, handover, and close-out.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, trackers, action registers, decision logs, project documentation, and status reports.
- Coordinate with internal teams, site representatives, vendors, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to support timely completion of project activities.
- Organize project meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, document decisions, track action owners and deadlines, and follow up to closure.
- Support project governance, including risk and issue management, dependency tracking, change control, document control, and compliance with internal processes.
- Gather, validate, and analyse project data to identify trends, inconsistencies, delays, cost variances, and areas requiring management attention.
- Prepare business cases, approval papers, evaluations, project presentations, dashboards, management reports, and executive summaries.
- Support sourcing and vendor-management activities, including requirements clarification, proposal review, bid comparison, onboarding coordination, and performance monitoring.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, purchase orders, invoices, forecasts, and expenditure against approved plans, and highlight variances promptly.
- Identify delivery risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities, and work with responsible stakeholders to define and track mitigation or corrective actions.
- Promote clear accountability by confirming ownership, escalating unresolved matters appropriately, and ensuring that agreed deliverables are followed through.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management tools, templates, reporting standards, lessons learned, and ways of working.
- Remain informed about relevant developments in project management, technology, operations, and the business areas connected to assigned projects.
Job Requirements:
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, operations, information systems, or another relevant discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in project coordination, project management, PMO, operations, technology, engineering, construction, logistics, consulting, or another project-based environment.
- Practical experience supporting schedules, documentation, reporting, meetings, actions, risks, budgets, or vendors within a project or programme.
- Working knowledge of project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Planner, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or equivalent platforms is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Sound understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, scope, stakeholder coordination, risk management, change control, and project controls.
- Ownership mindset with the initiative to identify gaps, clarify next steps, and drive assigned actions to completion with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical ability, including confidence in working with structured and unstructured data, checking accuracy, and converting findings into clear recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and remain dependable in a fast-moving, international environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to summarize complex project information for both working teams and senior management.
- Effective stakeholder and vendor coordination skills, including professional follow-up, expectation management, and constructive issue resolution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams; familiarity with reporting or data-visualization tools is an advantage.
- Collaborative, structured, pragmatic, and comfortable working across functions, cultures, and time zones.
