How India Lives (HIL) is the training partner to the Google News Initiative (GNI) for a training program on foundational AI literacy and practical skills in Indian newsrooms.
This 5-month program is aimed at journalists, editors, and media educators. It comprises several parts, including in-person workshops, online sessions, one-to-one mentoring, and newsroom visits.
We are looking to hire a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Program Manager to support the smooth execution of this program. This role involves managing logistics, coordinating communication with participants, tracking progress, and documenting project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Cohort & Engagement ManagementServe as the primary point of contact for a cohort of journalists across India. Maintain regular contact to track story development, gather project updates, and build relationships.
Online Session CoordinationSchedule and manage weekly online sessions using Google Meet, ensuring participants and trainers have all necessary access and materials, alongside attendance tracking.
Documentation & Progress TrackingContinuously document projects built by participants using Google Spreadsheets, Docs, and Slide Decks. Monitor how participants use AI tools in reporting, quantifying time saved and workflow improvements. Prepare detailed outcome reports incorporating basic data calculations.
Travel & Local LogisticsCoordinate flight arrangements, hotel bookings, and local transportation for participants traveling to in-person training venues.
Ideal Candidate Profile
ExperienceAt least 2 years in program coordination, journalism, communications, or related fields.
Digital & AI ProficiencyStrong command over Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Meet). Familiarity or curiosity regarding AI tools (NotebookLM, Google AI Studio, Gemini) is highly preferred.
Location & AvailabilityMust be based in Delhi NCR (core team location), with immediate availability and willingness to travel for training programs.
Proactive & Detail-OrientedSelf-driven with strong ownership. Meticulous with details, data accuracy, calculations, and documentation without requiring constant reminders.
Important Note on Accuracy: This role requires exceptional attention to detail. If accuracy in documentation, calculations, and data management is not one of your strengths, this position may not be the right fit.
