We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Production Planning & Control (PPC) Engineer to join our growing manufacturing team.
Role Overview
The Junior PPC Engineer will support production planning, scheduling, shopfloor coordination, quality documentation, and inventory tracking to ensure smooth manufacturing operations and on-time product delivery.
The role involves close coordination with production, procurement, quality, stores, and vendor teams.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Assist in preparing Master Production Schedules (MPS) based on customer orders and forecasts
- Create and release work orders, job cards, and production routings
- Monitor production progress and highlight delays or deviations
- Support capacity planning and workload balancing
- Coordinate with procurement for timely raw material availability (plastics, foam, upholstery fabric, hardware)
- Maintain and update BOMs and production routings in ERP/MRP systems
Manufacturing Operations Support
- Coordinate daily shopfloor activities
- Support cycle time analysis and identify production bottlenecks
- Assist in line balancing and sub-assembly sequencing
- Participate in shift handovers and daily production review meetings
Plastic Manufacturing & Upholstery Knowledge (Preferred)
Preferred understanding of:
- Injection molding, blow molding, and thermoforming
- Plastic materials such as PP, ABS, Nylon, HDPE, and POM
- Common plastic defects: warpage, sink marks, flash, short shots
Preferred familiarity with:
- Foam specifications (Density, ILD)
- Upholstery fabrics and materials
- Basic sewing, cutting, and assembly processes for ergonomic furniture
Quality Control & Assurance
- Assist in incoming, in-process, and final inspections
- Use basic QC tools: Pareto charts, Fishbone diagrams, Histograms, Control charts
- Support FMEA preparation and process reviews
- Maintain AQL sampling plans and defect classifications
- Record NCRs and support CAPA activities
- Coordinate SPC monitoring (Cp, Cpk tracking)
- Support ISO 9001:2015 compliance and internal audits
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and production documentation
- Maintain NCR, CAPA, traceability records, and batch logs
- Ensure documentation compliance with customer and quality standards
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports
Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement and stores for material planning
- Support incoming material inspection and vendor scorecards
- Track purchase orders and material availability
- Assist in vendor evaluation and qualification activities
Mandatory Skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP
- Conditional Formatting
- Data Validation
- Production dashboards and MIS reporting
- Planning and inventory calculations
Communication Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to prepare SOPs, inspection reports, NCRs, and production summaries
- English proficiency is mandatory
- Tamil language skills are an added advantage
