Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Junior PCB Design Engineer located in Kochi. The primary responsibilities include designing PCB layouts, creating and reviewing schematics, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure design compliance, and conducting design validations. The engineer will also assist with debugging and troubleshooting circuits, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring that designs meet quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- PCB Layout & Routing: Transform electrical schematics into high-quality PCB layouts using industry-standard tools such as OrCAD
- Component Library Management: Create and maintain schematic symbols and PCB footprints according to IPC-7351 standards.
- Design Validation: Perform Design Rule Checks (DRC) and address violations to ensure manufacturability and electrical reliability.
- Manufacturing Deliverables: Generate and verify production-ready file packages, including Gerber files, Drill files and assembly drawings.
- Cross-functional Support: Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize component placement and assist in initial board bring-up and troubleshooting.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics
- Experience: 1–2 years of professional experience specifically in PCB layout and design.
- Software: Proficiency in Cadence Allegro.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding in multi-layer stack-ups, HDI PCBs, Power PCBs, signal integrity (SI) principles, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
- Manufacturing Standards: Knowledge of IPC standards for design and acceptability (e.g., IPC-2221).
