Role Description The Junior Engineer role at Shefield Construction is a full-time, on-site position located in the Kolkata metropolitan area. The Junior Engineer will assist in planning and executing construction activities, including supervising work at site, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include monitoring progress, preparing basic reports and documentation, supporting quality checks, and assisting in resolving technical issues under the guidance of senior engineers. The role also involves collaborating with project managers and site teams, attending meetings, and contributing to continuous improvement of construction processes.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of civil or construction engineering principles and familiarity with building materials, methods, and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications, with basic skills in relevant engineering or drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar tools).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in measurements, calculations, and quality checks.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with site teams, contractors, vendors, and project managers.
- Good organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet project timelines.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Willingness to work on-site in varying outdoor conditions and to follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Previous internship or project experience in construction or infrastructure is an advantage but not mandatory.
