Junior DevOps Engineer
Experience: 2–3 years
About the Role:
We're looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join our infrastructure team. You'll work on maintaining and improving our CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes deployments, and observability stack, supporting applications running across AWS and on-prem/self-hosted Linux environments.
What You'll Do
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI pipelines in **GitHub Actions** (multi-service builds, Docker image builds/pushes, path-based triggers, self-hosted runners)
- Manage application deployments via **ArgoCD** and **Helm** across multiple environments (dev/staging/production)
- Write and maintain **Helm charts** — templating, values management, secrets handling (ExternalSecrets/Passbolt or similar), multi-workload charts
- Operate and troubleshoot workloads on **Kubernetes** — Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, networking (including LoadBalancer services via MetalLB or cloud LBs)
- Build and maintain **Docker** images and multi-stage Dockerfiles for various application stacks
- Maintain **container image security** and Image size optimization — scanning images for vulnerabilities (Trivy/Grype/Docker Scout or similar), keeping base images patched and up to date, minimizing image attack surface, and managing image pull secrets/registry access
- Manage infrastructure on **AWS** (EC2, S3, IAM, networking basics) and **Linux** systems administration (Ubuntu/Debian-based)
- Set up and maintain monitoring/observability using **Prometheus** and **Grafana** — dashboards, alerting rules
- Support GitOps workflows — managing values files, image tags, and deployment configs across a GitOps repository
- Collaborate with development teams to debug build/deployment failures and improve pipeline reliability
- Participate in on-call/incident response rotations (if applicable)
## Required Skills & Experience
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure-focused role
- Solid working knowledge of **Linux** administration and shell scripting (bash)
- Practical experience with **Docker** — building images, multi-stage builds, debugging container issues
- Understanding of **container image security fundamentals** — vulnerability scanning, patching base images, avoiding unnecessary packages/attack surface in images
- Working knowledge of **Kubernetes** — deploying and troubleshooting workloads, understanding Services/Ingress/networking fundamentals
- Experience with **GitHub Actions** (or similar CI tools) — writing workflows, managing secrets, matrix builds
- Familiarity with **ArgoCD** or another GitOps/CD tool
- Basic to intermediate **AWS** experience (EC2, S3, Security group IAM at minimum)
- Exposure to **Prometheus** and **Grafana** for monitoring/alerting
- Comfortable reading and writing YAML, and debugging templated configs (Helm)
- Good troubleshooting mindset — comfortable digging into logs, error messages, and unfamiliar systems
## Nice to Have
- Experience with Helm chart authoring (not just consuming existing charts)
- Exposure to bare-metal/on-prem Kubernetes (MetalLB, self-hosted clusters)
- Familiarity with secret management tools (External Secrets Operator, Vault, Passbolt, etc.)
- Basic networking knowledge (DNS, TLS/cert-manager, load balancing concepts)
- Scripting in Shell and Python
