Role Description This full-time, on-site Junior Consultant – Pediatrics and Neonatology role is based at Motherhood in Chennai. The professional in this position will support senior consultants in delivering clinical care to neonates and pediatric patients, including admission assessments, daily rounds, ongoing monitoring, and documentation. Responsibilities include managing common neonatal and pediatric conditions, assisting in high-risk deliveries, providing resuscitation and emergency care as required, and coordinating diagnostics and treatments. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure evidence-based, family-centered care, as well as counseling and educating parents and caregivers. The Junior Consultant will also participate in departmental meetings, quality initiatives, and training activities to maintain high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical foundation in Medicine with focused experience or training in Pediatrics and Neonatology.
- Competence in Emergency Medicine and neonatal resuscitation, with the ability to respond promptly to critical situations in NICU and pediatric settings.
- Experience working with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and ensure continuity of care.
- Commitment to ongoing Training and professional development, including participation in clinical audits, CME programs, and teaching activities.
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS) with postgraduate qualification in Pediatrics (e.g., MD/DNB/DCH or equivalent) and valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and counseling skills, with a family-centered and culturally sensitive approach.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends, as required in a tertiary care maternity and children’s hospital.
- Prior experience in a NICU or pediatric unit in a hospital setting is highly desirable.
