About the job:
This role owns fabric sourcing at Uniq You — the foundation of how every product looks, feels, and performs. You will source, evaluate, and procure high-quality fabrics aligned with our design and production needs, balancing cost, quality, and timeline without dropping any of the three.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vendor Sourcing & Development
- Identify, qualify, and onboard fabric vendors across India (and beyond, where it makes sense)
- Build a network you can actually call — not a spreadsheet of contacts
- Negotiate price, MOQ, and lead times hard, without breaking the relationship
2. On-Ground Execution
- Travel possibly to vendor locations, mills, and mandis
- Evaluate fabrics in person — you can't source over email
- Be comfortable operating in markets without polished processes
3. Cross-Functional Execution
- Partner with design, merchandising, and production to ensure what's procured matches what's being built
- Align on specs, timelines, and substitutions in real time
- Remove blockers between vendors and internal teams
4. Quality & Cost Ownership
- Own quality control end-to-end — no bad lot reaches the floor
- Track rejection rates, lead times, and landed cost
- Find margin where others don't bother looking
5. Special Projects
- Sample development for new categories
- Sustainable or innovative fabric exploration
- Vendor consolidation and cost-out initiatives
What We're Looking For:
- Atleast 2 years in fabric buying or sourcing at a fashion or apparel brand
- Strong existing vendor network across key fabric hubs
- High ownership — chases the vendor, the sample, and the deadline without being asked
- Willing to travel often, without complaining
- Sharp on cost, sharper on quality
