Junior/Assistant Cameraman

About the Role
At Hashtag, the Junior / Assistant Cameraman plays a critical role in bringing ideas to life through compelling visual storytelling. You’ll work alongside our creative, content, and production teams to capture high-quality photos and videos for brands across industries.
Whether it's a social media reel, client shoot, behind-the-scenes coverage, product video, or campaign content, you'll be responsible for ensuring every frame is captured with creativity, precision, and attention to detail.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about photography and videography, eager to learn, comfortable working in a fast-paced agency environment, and willing to be on the field frequently.
What You'll Do
· Video & Photography Support
· Assist in planning and executing video shoots and photography assignments.
· Operate DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, lenses, tripods, gimbals, and basic lighting equipment.
· Capture high-quality footage and images for social media, digital campaigns, events, and brand content.
· Support senior cameramen during larger productions and commercial shoots.
· Ensure proper framing, focus, exposure, and camera settings during shoots.
· Content Production
· Shoot reels, short-form videos, interviews, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes content.
· Capture product, lifestyle, and event photography as per creative briefs.
· Maintain consistency in visual quality across all projects.
· Assist in organizing and backing up shoot footage and assets.
Equipment Management
· Maintain cameras, lenses, memory cards, batteries, and accessories.
· Ensure equipment is charged, packed, and ready before every shoot.
· Report equipment issues or maintenance requirements promptly.
· Follow proper storage and handling procedures.
Team Coordination
· Coordinate with content creators, designers, editors, and account managers during shoots.
· Understand creative briefs and execute visual requirements accurately.
· Be available for indoor and outdoor shoots across Chennai and nearby locations.
· Support production logistics during client shoots and events.
Creative Contribution
· Bring fresh ideas for framing, transitions, angles, and visual storytelling.
· Stay updated on current social media video trends, camera techniques, and content formats.
· Contribute creative inputs during brainstorming and pre-production discussions.
What You Are NOT Expected to Do
· Own client communication or client servicing responsibilities.
· Develop campaign strategy or content strategy.
· Manage paid advertising campaigns.
· Handle advanced video editing independently (basic understanding is a plus).
· Lead large-scale commercial productions without supervision.

What We're Looking For
Required
· Passion for photography and videography.
· Freshers with a strong portfolio are welcome to apply.
· Candidates with 1+ years of experience should preferably own a DSLR Camera
· Basic understanding of camera settings including ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed,
White Balance, and Focus.
· Willingness to travel for shoots and work on-field.
· Ability to take direction and execute creative briefs efficiently.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
· Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
Nice-to-Haves (Optional)
· Experience shooting social media content and reels.
· Basic video editing knowledge using Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar tools.
· Experience using gimbals and lighting setups.
· Photography portfolio showcasing events, products, lifestyle, or commercial work.
· Understanding of social media content formats and trends.
