Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Advocate – Tax Law, based in Chennai. The Junior Advocate will assist senior advocates and tax professionals with research on tax statutes, case laws, and regulatory developments. Daily responsibilities include drafting and reviewing opinions, notices, responses, and basic pleadings, as well as supporting the preparation of documents for tax assessments, appeals, and hearings. The role involves coordinating with clients to collect information, clarify facts, and provide status updates under supervision. The Junior Advocate will maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and procedures, while continuously building knowledge through training and guided client work.
Qualifications
- Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret tax statutes, case laws, and regulations.
- Competence in legal drafting and documentation, including notices, replies, summaries, and basic pleadings.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and authorities in a clear and professional manner.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines responsibly.
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B or equivalent) from an accredited institution; bar enrollment or eligibility to enroll is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in tax law through coursework, internships, or prior experience; familiarity with Indian tax systems is an advantage.
- Proficiency with standard office software and legal research tools; willingness to learn new technologies as needed.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, collaborate in a team environment, and maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards.
