Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Junior Advocate role based in Chennai. The Junior Advocate will assist senior lawyers with case preparation, including legal research, drafting petitions, pleadings, written statements, notices, and legal opinions. Responsibilities include attending court hearings and client meetings, preparing case briefs, organizing documents, and maintaining case files. The role involves coordinating with clients and other stakeholders to gather information, follow up on case progress, and support timely filings and compliance. The Junior Advocate will also help review contracts and legal documents, summarize case laws, and support the team in day-to-day office and administrative legal tasks.
Qualifications
- Strong legal research and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and legal precedents.
- Proficiency in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, petitions, notices, affidavits, and basic contracts.
- Comfort with court procedures, filing processes, and coordination related to hearings and appearances.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues in a structured, understandable manner.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and respect for confidentiality in all client and case-related work.
- Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple matters, and work under supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) from a recognized institution; enrollment with the Bar Council or eligibility to enroll preferred.
- Familiarity with MS Office, basic legal research tools, and electronic document management; willingness to learn new tools as needed.
- Interest in litigation and courtroom practice; prior internship or junior-level experience in a law firm or with a practicing advocate is an advantage.
